He clearly states in the original post that he was not wearing his seatbelt and nailed his knee into the dash. Very stupid and very lucky.

wow. bad wreck. i'm glad you're ok and the other guy is still alive, because his car is really folded in bad. i'm also curious why your airbag didn't go off. it should have. i urge everyone to wear their seat belt.

 

you had the guardian angles from the entire colective body of dodge forum with you. Even though the situation is a rough one, I do have to say that it is an awesome thing that you only walked away with a bump even though the truck is now a short short cab. Thats the biggest reason i bought a truck instead of a car. Not that I ever doubted the crash-em-up derby worthiness of the ram

 

hmmm... airbag did not deploy? that kinda makes me worried... my question is, are the airbag system speed sensitive? or will it only deploy if a certain speed is achieved? what speed are you at when you got hit?

 

Is it possible that a shop it was taken to could've stolen the airbags? That happened to my friend's grand cherokee, got totaled recently, and the airbags did not deploy; they pulled open the dash and steering wheel to find out they were gone. Luckily he walked away without so much as a scratch...

 

Glad you are OK! Question: How fast were you and the other guy going to do that much damage?
I think the truck folding up like that is supposed to happen to cushion the impact. If you watch the crash test commercials the Furds fold up like that and they have a really good crash test rating. I am also concerned that the airbags didn't go off. You should have someone that knows how look and see if they were stolen or what happened with that. Since the truck is totaled you should be able to tearinto it somewhat to determine why they didn't work......

 

Jeez, that is one hell of an impact, and yeah I don't recall seeing a Dodge chassis folding up like that. From the pics, it looks like you came right on over the front end of that Accord and then tore the front end of your truck a new one. Ouch dude, glad you are OK.
