if you're talkin the 97 to 03 models, they fold up and the cab actually seperates from the frame in the tests and crumples real bad, but the 04 to current trucks stay pretty straight, generally frames are not designed to bend otherwise they'd buckle under load

 

I'm sorry to see the loss, but what a good thing that the truck folded the way that it did. The 97-03 F-150s fold in the reverse direction. My teacher had one and was in a head on accident with one. Instead of having the bed fold like yours, it was opposite and the top edge proceeded to fold into the cab, then to the seat back, then into his spine and snapped it. The bone in his spinal chord broke outwards so he was fortunate to live and not be paralyzed. Glad that you walked away okay!

 

holy sheet!!!!! glad to hear you are ok. that is the main reason i drive a dodge. they are still made of metal not plastic!! i am curious about the airbags though...

 

The air bags are a good question. Why didn't they deploy?

 

Your air bag not going off also worries me, I would take a picture of the steering wheel now and then pry open the cover and see if the bag is in there. If it is I would be calling dodge (assuming your srs warning light was not on) and sending them the pics of your accident. From my untrained eye I would says that accident was defintely bad enough for the air bag to deploy. Second I am very gald to hear your o.k. It definitelycould have turned out much worse. You must have some luck on your side to walk away from that accident with out using the seat belt or airbag. One question I have, Is that your skid marks under your truck, If they are it looks like you were almost stopped when he hit you. P.s. look on the bright side, your going to have a new project truck in the future.

 

I previously had NO damage on the truck.. And I wasnt towing anything... It just buckled from the impact... I was doing about 45/50 mph his way.... He was probably doing about the same my way....

 

Glad you are ok minus the bumps and bruises. That looks awful.

 

bads didnt go off cuz he wasnt wearing his belt, which is part of the air bag system since his truck was a late model one. i kno this cuz i wanted to get rid of the seat belt light on my dash by splicing the wire together and the mopar tech said that if i wasnt wearing my seat-belt on my truck it would deploy the bag and i could die.

 

360 is right if not waering your belt the bags wont deploy

 

Thats very interesting... I've never heard of that..... I'm actually glad they didnt go off..
