as in the one on the valve body? don't remember what side it's on, if it's on the pan side, easy, if it's on the backside, valve body will have to be removed...i can check tonight, have trans apart at work. why do you need to change it? it's just a piece of steel with a hole in it...or am i way off base here.

yes as in valve body. it is a tsb as a reason for the cel p1740( http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2000/21-11-00.htm) i figured i might not be able to do there stall test but if i dont feal nothing wrong and the plate is relatively easy and inexpensive fix why not try it.

That TSB applies to me also. But I don't understand it.

3. If the engine stalls as a result of the TCC stall test, then perform the Repair Procedure.
4. If the engine does not stall, as a result of the TCC stall test, then further diagnosis is required. The technician may want to consider the following components during their additional diagnosis-. a cut or worn input shaft seals, a missing pump lock-up circuit check ball, or worn converter hub, input shaft, reaction shaft, and pump rotor.

If the engine stalls, do the repair.
If the engine does not stall, there is still a problem.

So, should a good tranny stall or not stall?

The boost plate is on top of the valve body. You do need to drop the valve body down, But you don't need to remove it. The plate needs a larger hole, that the reason of the TSB, But there is more...... You also need to do a torque converter stall test with a scanner. With the engine running perform the test in drive, If the engine stall the test passed, If the engine is still running it failed. Which means a overhaul with new seals and torque converter and front pump.

If you have a DRB3 scanner, Yes.
