Valve float could be causing a misfire. If that is the problem, you'll never get there! If your ignition is still factory stock then you will be lucky to have an accurate spark at those RPMs as well. Your exhaust won't scavenge the combustion chamber well enough to get a good fresh air/fuel charge to generate any power in that RPM range, you're just slinging oil and pistons around very fast! Your intake isn't designed to flow properly in that RPM range either.

Your engine will certainly die a premature death if you insist on twisting it that hard!

Ok, all the problems are out in the open! If you are already planning to replace your engine and you just wanna see what you can get out of it, spin the hell out of it!

Make sure your distributor cap is clean and dry! Cross sparking can be catastrophic at those RPMs! It is an old trick for buddies that race each other to put pencil marks on the inside of a dist cap to cause misfires. Dust buildup in the cap can cause that too! Open up the gap on your plugs a couple thou too! If the flame on your spark isn't terribly strong, the compression can blow it out before it can ignite the A/F mixture.

Be sure and carry a shovel and bucket with you! You could very well be picking up parts on the road! LOL!

I'm not gonna get into the battle of whether you should try to go that high with your RPM's on a stock engine or not. I'm just gonna try and answer your question.

I don't belive the stock coil can recharge fast enough to provide a consistent spark at those RPM's. Also, if you are running stock (6.5mm) wires you will probably be running into spark loss there.

To make sure you can have full spark and full ignition at those RPM levels I would recommend a full tune-up with Autolite 3923 spark plugs (they run a little cooler than stock), some 8mm or 8.5 mm wires (MSD,Tayloror another performance manufacturer), copper fitted cap and rotor, an MSD Blaster coil (whichever model you like), and one of the MSD6 versions of a performance ignition system. These things together will resolve any spark issue you may encounter at those RPM's.

Hope this helps.

if anyone who has ever done any performance mods, then going to sit here and say that they have neveer pushed thier RAM to about 5 to 6 thousand rpm than there is no reason to put on mods UNLESS you are a hauler.
I have MODS and i dont "push it" theres a few of usewho have mods and never push it , theres alot of reasons to do mods , looks , mpg , better hp , better throttle response , I cant understand why you would said you made a typo with the 6 grand when you started with the tread with it and post the same thing ? and your pettle is spelled pedal , I find it hard to help any one who cant spell simple words ..and there is a rev limiter keep hitting it and float the valves once and see what happens , next you will start a thread " help fast my motor making a strange noise"

6,000 is valve float territory on a stock 5.2/5.9. Besides, you're not making additional power beyond ~5k.
