Default the imfamous Tire and Wheel Question

Ok so i just got my 3inch lift done on my 94 ram 1500 4wd and now its time for some new feet.
Im looking at a set of cragars chrome soft 8 wheels 15x10 5x 5.5 bolt circle with 4" of backspacing. and -38mm offset

would these rims rub. if so why.. is it a backspace issue....

the other choice was to go with a 16x8 with a 5 inch backspace..

If anyones run these wheels let me know.

Depends on how fat of tires you want to run.

Depends on the backspacing and if your lift included longer arms to recenter the axle. Google "scrub radius" and read the information. Factory rims have about 5 inches of backspacing, add an inch to the outside for your 8 inch rims and an extra inch if you go with 4 inches of backspacing. FYI...offset rims tend to increase the load on your bearings...now I didn't say it would wear them out, just increase the load.

well ive decided to stuff a set of 285's on the stock 16x7's since i only have about 3 weeks till i go back to college.. Im going to go for the 16x8's when i come back for winter break...

Whos got some numbers on 16x8 rims as far as backspacing..

Lets turn this into a Wheel and tire combo thread. Post your tires size and make as well as wheels with backspacing. Note if you had any rubbing with this combo.. Could be a usefull thread for people..

Thanks guys ive leand a ton of stuff about my rig here you all know your stuff... Keep it going..

I've got a set of Goodyear 305/70/R16's on the stock rims of my Ram. I also have a 3 inch lift and I get a little bit of rubbing when the wheels are fully turned, other than that, no problems. However, within the next few months I plan on getting some black/machined 16x10s to go on mine. Good luck with yours.

ive got a similar question as well.. my buddy has a 2001 ram 4x4 and hes got 305/70/16 on the stock sport wheels and they rub bad, there so nubby all u hear is ding ding ding, right now i have 285/75/16 on my stock rims and only rub at full turn on a downward hill pretty much, i am going to install my 2 inch level kit and want to get 33x12.5's on my 2001 ram 4x4 and i know im going to need new rims because they will rub the **** out of my suspension arms like they do on my buddys, so wat should i be looking for when im looking at rims so they will have enough backspacing or watever else so i will have no rub? will i need to get wheel spacers or will some new rims just fix that by themselves?

be carefull about 15" rims on a 2001 since 99 i believe dodge went to a 2 piston caliber setup which takes up to much room for a 15" rim.. ive herd that depending on the rim you may be able to grind off a bit of the caliber to make them fit.
