Volant Cold Air Intake???
I have the tube installed. Comes through next to the radiator. See pic: https://dodgeforum.com/upfiles/22105...3231B2AE77.jpg
The fuel evap setup and horns need to be relocated to make it fit.

I run a volant myself. I can't say enough about it. I don't have the scoop installed yet though. I went with volant over K&N because the volant mounts to the wheel well. So when your baggin on the gas it's not going anyplace. Whereas the others i looked at seemed to just free float, and i read too many reviews about cracked parts, or hard time installing, none of the above with volant. It is a nice sturdy build. If you have the $ to put up for it, get it. I noticed the gains in HP the first run around the block, was definatly more peppy, didn't hurt my millage ither
The reason you need a cold air intake if your looking for perfomance gains in simpply to add more airflow. The stock box isn't that big on airflow. Sure it pulls cold air form the wheel well. But if you get into headers, exhaust, intake, throttle body you need more air for those things to breath more. The engine is really a big air pump in essance. More in means more out. The point is to elliminate the bottle necks in the stock system. Don't fool youself. Tell me one person who runs stock airbox's on perfomance motors! If you get yourself a jetchip, you'll stay in the sweet spot of RPM's alot longer, even without a chip, i can take my old mans 01 1500 5.9 off the line and mines a 99 5.2 with a few extra parts under the hood. Lots of reasons to get an intake.

Do you guys know if the volant outdoes the k&n or not though? K&N's numbers are really impressive and their price is cheaper too. I just would like to ensure that if I am going to spend the money on a volant, I want to make sure it outperforms the K&N, ya know? Also, does it sounds nice when you hit it? I have a very nice exhaust system on my truck right now, and I want to compliment it with the best possible cold air intake option, because I am big on performance and noise, just can't get enough of it haha!
I have run both the K&N and the Volant. I preferred the Volant simply because it is a better design. The K&N bent over time due to the heat from the shorty headers I was running. The tube came to rest on the heat sheild, and made a clunkingnoise and leaked during 1/2-wot. If you look at the pictures, the coupling that mates the air hat to the box on the Volantis designed to give when the motor flexes under hard throttle. This prevents damage to the unit and maintains the seal at the tb. The filters are essentially the same- cotton gauze. The only difference is Volant uses blue oil and K&N uses red oil. At the first cleaning I used the K&Nkit that I had left overand turned the blue filter red.
The first thing i noticed before i got to romp the gas was the sound difference. Seemed to have a more sporty sound. Like i said before if you can afford it, get it. I would recomend it over the K&N
That's very exciting to hear. I desperately want a cold air intake on the truck though. Right now it's all exhaust system, but you can still hear the softness of the engine behind all the loud obnoxious noise, I just want some nice beef coming from the engine like it does coming from the exhaust tips lol!
I have used both K&N and I just installed my Volant on Tuesday. The Volant gives just as much power, if not more, and is a lot quieter of an intake.

I did take a look at Volant, they do have a nice looking kit, but I still went with K&N. To get a ram air effect with the volant you need to buy an extra scoop. Where to get a ram air effect on the FIPK all you need to do is remove half of the black material between the radiator and the body.

I'm just showing you another setup, I don't think you could go wrong with either one.
