I don't like the fact that you need to spend another 130 bucks for the Volant scoop ontop of the intake kit price either. I figured if Volant was what he wanted I could at least show him a good price.
Yeah, I agree, that's shady... But you're right, that's the lowest price I've ever seen on them. Honestly though, I don't think any of theseare going to make much difference as far as air temp going into the engine. Smoother and denser flow, yes...cold air, probably not... I agree with Indy, if you're going to spend that much...get the Ram Air box...

I can truely say I just don't knowhow muchcooler air has an effect with our Keggers. I've been trying to find some info on how long air stays in the kegger at different rpm'sbefore being used. By knowing how long the air stays in the kegger you could basically figure out how much heat soak you end up with and determain how much effect the cooler air has on the system.

The round filter on my truck really opened it up, more than I expected, seems to just pull a harder in all gears. just my 2 cents

And the setup only costs me 32$

Incase you were wondering, there is no staging area for air in the intake. The ammount of time the air is infrom the throttle body to the heads is basicly immeasurable and honestly pointless for what your trying to figgure out. No matter the percentage of heat soak, colder air will ALWAYS be better. (Thats why nitrous works) the "cold air" systems dont even gather air thats any cooler than what youd grab with an open element, unless its being pulled DIRECTLY from outside via the grille, or holes in the bumper, or under the truck, or through the hood, etc. That is why thisthread is so funny, because you guys are getting ate up by the marketing hype of aftermarket companies and spendingover$100 and in some cases well over $100 for something thatispoorer than an open element asfar as performance goes. Butdont get me wrong xskylinedx, any scientific research makes me happy, but theres really no point in trying to figgure out how much heat soak air gets when your not going to change the manifold (its even sorta pointless even if you are.) If you are worried about that, get an edelbrock air gap and shove a bag of ice under it.

Not all of us have big wallets, but we all have brains. Lets try using them.

I really wanted to go that route, and almost did. The only thing that kept me from it was the fear of killing my mpg, as it already sucks anyways... I still may sell my intake one day and go round, but I want to wait until gas gets cheaper again...if it ever does...
