Instead of doing the air tank and compressed air (because it will not last very long), you might consider making a homemade turbo along with a fresh air induction system. Turbos run off the exhaust gas but do little in terms of generating a cooler air for the engine to breathe. They work well because the air is forced into the intake. I think that if you added a fresh air induction along witht he turbo, you could generate more power from your engine. Might be less expensive than buying a turbo charger or running a belt driven SC.

But that's way off the topic of a $200 CAI.

im sorry, your going to have to explain that one with a little more detail. You want to get a turbo becauseits cheeper than buying a turbo?

power adders vs n/a induction systems are two diffrent animals. I think since weve discussed pritty much everything about cold air intakes, im sure the threadstarter wouldn mind if we deviate from the original post. If you want to talk about forced induction Ill be more than happy to explain them as well.

No, I don't. But the guy that wanted to run a compressed air system might find it better to toy around with building a turbo if he doesn't wanna buy one. Some people like to tinker and build their own "homemade" parts. Nothing wrong with that.

gotcha gotcha...I thought you were saying it was cheeper to buy a turbo than to buy a turbo...which was confusing.

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah... Anyways, I could use a good compressor and I got some other ideas to add as well, but I did say that I have 20 gallons of extra storage for the air so who knows, maybe if I ever do try this at home, it'll be worth the while seeing as how when you compress air, the air drops to freezing temperatures which would at the very least give a little drop in intake air temps if not boost the compression a little bit.

On to the next idea, when it comes to building a turbo... I would say that there is an idea worth toying with. Have any of you guys ever had the bright idea to take the blower motor from one of those huge things called jumpers that people have in their backyards during birthday parties and straping it to the intake on your motor? I have...[sm=drooldude.gif]

For around a hundred bucks I've seen 1000 CFM blowers that run on under 20 Amps. I thought I might be able to use one of those to get some boost or am I just dreaming again? Seeing as how the stock throttle body on my truck takes in, lets say using a round figure that's easy to work with, 500CFM, what kind of boost could I possibly see from that 1000 CFM blower? An extra psi? Anyone? Anyone?

Consider using the existing power steering pump
to run a blower by means of a hydraulic motor
driving a roots blower.

The existing alternators
even the 160 amp units
can't provide more than the equivalent
of 2 additional horsepower

GLHF

flow and pressure are two diffrent things.

I had that idea when I was a kid and ductaped one to my minibike's carb and blew out most of the gaskets in the little 2 stroke

Anybody that goes and fits some turbo they found on the internet without bigger injectors and a way to tune them is asking for trouble. It will cost more than gaskets on a minibike.
