Default ABS & Brake light staying On!

Hey Guys goodevening, after reading some earlier posts I would like tomake sure of what was written. I have a 2000 Dodge 1500 with a 5.9L, today the ABS & Brake idiot lights came on and stay on after the normal start up cycle. Also the speedo doe not start to operate until after 30 mph has been reached, I have pulled the battery cablesand checked all electrical connections then reseated battery cables. The condition still exists, from what I have read on this great site the ABS speed sensor mounted on the rear pumkin is the failed unit? It looks like a couple mounting bolts and the sensor should just pull out? Or do I need to let the Factory folks deal with this and part with some cash!! Any assistance from the group would be greatly appreciated, Thanks for your time and effort!!!!!

Hi, I bought a 99 dodge ram in april of this year and i am living with the same problem, is it safe to assume
its the same fix? I'm not as much of a car guy as most of you are but I can pull off most fixes as long as i know
im not gonna mess anything up. Do you know where i might get the part? Also, the same time the lights came on my
truck started to stall randomly, i was told it was my MAP sensor and it cost around 400 to replace, the truck still dies
from time to time and its not me killing it with the clutch... anyone heard of this issue?

The Mopar vehicle speed sensor is $43. You can get it from your local dealership. DO NOT let them talk you into letting them do it! It will more than likely be about a $100 if they do. Just buy the part and do it yourself. Takes probable 15 minutes tops. Unplug the wire, unbolt the sensor, twist the sensor out, twist the new one in, bolt it up, and plug the wire back up. Easy. The hardest part it probably getting the new sensor to go in the hole. It helps if you twist it. Another thing that helps is to take your spare tire off, it will give you some extra room to work with.

I was gonna just update my post, but i can't locate it.

Anyway, here's my story.

My 'ABS & Brake' lights come on when I hit 65mph give or take a few. My speedo continues to work fine. These lights will stay on till I shut off the truck. Now, I've been reading up on here about this problem and have bought both the trans and rear diff ABS speed sensors. Bought both of them from Carquest. The trans sensor was about $22 and the rear diff was about $34. I can get part #'s if anybody wants them.

Needless to say, I installed both of them about a week ago and I'm still having the exact same problem.

Any ideas??

Oh yeah:
