Ok, I removed my TB last night for cleaning, and discovered that I have oil pooled up in the intake. I always check it whenever I clean the TB, and it has always been clean and dry, so this is a pretty recent development. Can't say that i've noticed any loss in performance or decrease in mpg that is usually reported with this problem, but maybe it just isn't bad enough yet. So, what do you all think I should do. I see that I have two options:

Option 1: I already have a spare kegger intake sitting in my garage that I was planning to mod and have as a standby just in case this should ever happen to me. All I would need to buy is the Hughes plenum kit that gets rid of this problem for good (or so i've heard). That would be the cheapest route for sure.

Option 2: Just scrap the keg intakes all together and get an M1 intake. Considering the mods I have, and the fact that my B&G flash is essentially a variation of the M1 flash, I think it might really work well on my truck. Problem is, a good M1 run around $400-$500 these days. Would it be worth it?

What do you all think I should do?

 

~$450 is expensive, but how much of a gain will it give you. Is it worth the money?
How much is the Hughes kit?

 

Hughes kit runs about $90 for the plate, another $50 for the gaskets. So for less hten $150, it should be fixed for good. With a modded kegger, I might see some performance gains too. I think the M1 would yeild better performance gains though from what I have read (escpecially since i'm already flashed for it).

 

i just spent about $250 on the replacement gasket, bolts, o2 sensor, thermostat and gaskets.... i think it really depends on what you want out of your truck. M1 would be the best rout for performance gains, but it gonna cost ya. i opted to just replace the gasket to save some $$$. if i ever want more performance out of this truck i will more then likely just swap in a whole new motor...

 

I'm not sure if there would be enough of a hp gain on it's ownto justify theM1, but like thoseMopar Performance valve covers you have I think it would look sweet.

 

I say go for the M1, it'll go well with your gears/headers/rockers combination

 

Ya, except my gears are not going to be a factor anymore when I put the 35's on soon.

 

even with the bigger tires, I still say go with the M1. even if it's only to permanently eliminate the plenum gasket leak

 

just fix the damn thing and put on the modded barrel...and put on that body lift!!! .

 

lol, unfortuantly, the body lift and 35's are going to have to wait for a while till I get this resolved first.
