How do you fix a steering column bearing?
Got a small clicking when I come to a stop or take off from a stop. I feel it in the steering wheel. I had a tire shop look at it cause I couldn't find anything in the front end that was worn out or loose. They said it was in the column. I thought I read of a way to fix the bearing that is in the column but I can't find it. Please help if anyone know what I'm talking about.
Oh. sorry, I've got a 2000 Ram 4x4

This doesn't answer your question directly, but just FYI. I had a C-ring retaining clip break in my steering column, in my 2000 CTD 4x4. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the whole steering column. When it happened, I heard the snap and drove directly to the dealership. Could possibly be the same type issue your having.

I have an 01 4x4 and it has a bad bearing in the column somewhere, it doesnt make any noise when im driving straight or at higher speeds (probly just cant hear over the exhaust), but in a parking lot it clicks like crazy. I took it to my dealership and they told me you have to replace the entire column but it was perfectly safe to drive... replacing the whole column will cost you about $750 at a dealership.

Back in the early years of the 2nd Gen Ram
I remember owners complaining about clicking noise in the steering column
and those still under warranty got dealerships to replace them.
I think the TSB at this listing:

is 19-13-97
I also seem to remember a 'cable tie fix' where owners out of warranty disassembled their intermediate shaft and used a section of cable tie nylon to take up slack and stop the clicking.
This guy:

has advertised on another forum
that he will machine for you a replacement plastic bushing to tighten up the steering.
This Canadian company has a mod for 4x4 Rams that gets good reviews but as a small company they have been known to be slow in filling orders:

I also seem to remember that some Ram owners have swapped in a Delphi steering box to replace the Saginaw original and reported that it helped a lot.

Here is a lengthy thread from another site with a replacement bushing said to fix the problem....

I believe this is ends up linking to the rocksolidramsteering link that Hank has posted above.

RE: How do you fix a steering column bearing?
Hey all. I used this product a couple of months ago and I have to say it so far is working great.
http://www.rocksolidramtrucksteering.com/
It was easy to install and made a big difference in the steering.
I also did the Lukes Link product. Nice item.. But I still have a front end noise that I can't seem to figure out. I just keep changeing out the old stock stuff, maybe I'll find the noice or movement some day.
