My ram is hesitating to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear and i cant figure out why...
I took it to a transmission place just to get an idea of what is wrong and they said that
my solenoid is bad... is there any truth in that?.. i personally think that it is a censor somewhere...
thanks in advance

well it shifts fine through the first 2 gears.. when its gonna shift from 2nd to 3rd.. sometimes it wont shift unless i let go of the gas.. when it gets to about 2X1000 rpm.. it will shift.. it doesnt shift harsh though.. it shifts perfectly normal.. i checkout out the tranny today and saw that the sensor in the bottom of the tranny right behind the transfer case, had quite a bid of tranny fluid on it.. im gonna change it tomorrow.. i just need to know the name of that sensor.. rather it fixes my shifting problem or not its still a good idea to change it.. since theres a little leak.. thanks

speed sensor?
located on tail/overdrive unit or transfer case?
before you go run and pay/replace the solenoid, check your basics,
Throttle Valve cable
fluid level - properly check with truck running in Neutral
band adjustments
if those are okay
First
HARSH 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 OR 3-2 SHIFTS
1. Lockup Solenoid Malfunction. Remove valve body and replace solenoid assembly.
the solenoid they are talking about on valve body ^^

PRELIMINARY Two basic procedures are required. One procedure for vehicles that are drivable and an alternate procedure for disabled vehicles (will not back up or move forward). VEHICLE IS DRIVEABLE [ol][*]Check for transmission fault codes using DRBĀ® scan tool.[*]Check fluid level and condition.[*]Adjust throttle and gearshift linkage if complaint was based on delayed, erratic, or harsh shifts.[*]Road test and note how transmission upshifts, downshifts, and engages.[*]Perform hydraulic pressure test if shift problems were noted during road test.[*]Perform air-pressure test to check clutch-band operation.
