I HAVE A 1998 RAM1500 SPORT 4X4 WITH AUTO TRANSMISSION. I'VE READ WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO SOME KIND OF BAND ADJUSTMENT WHENEVER YOU CHANGE THE FLUID AND FILTER. I PERFORMED THIS PROCEDURE THIS PAST WEEKEND HOWEVER; NOT KNOWING WHAT TO ADJUST AND THE FACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT BY THE DEALERSHIP CLOSE TO A YR AGO, I DID NOT DO A BAND ADJUSTMENT. FOR FUTURE REFERENCES IS THIS SOMETHING THAT IS DONE BY THE OWNER OR IS IT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER PROCEDURE ONLY? SECONDLY IF IT'S SOMETHING THAT I CAN DO AT HOME HOW FAR INTO THE TRANNY DO I HAVE TO GO OR IS IT A BOLT/SCREW THAT'S NEAR THE FILTER? AND LASTLY HOW SNUG DOES IT HAVE TO BE. WHY DOES DODGE TRANNY'S REQUIRE A BAND ADJUTMENT BUT FORD AND GM TRANNY'S DO NOT? WELL THANKS FOR THE HELP.

Since when do ford and gm trannys not require band adjustments?

 

Raising a dead thread I know. I have a simple question, should the tranny be in park or neutral or what during the adjustment? Or does it matter?

 

Since at least the introduction of the th350/ 400 trannies for GM and the C4/ C6 (i'm fairly sure) for Ford
