lol yeah, why not? It's only an 15 mile trip, It'd be fun. I dont know when the next time we are going to rent it though.. My dad is starting a new foundation on a big project in the spring, so it'll probably be around then. I think I'll have my brother towe it to the site (incase my tranny falls out on the way to the job), and then ill take her back to the rental place when the foundation is complete. Should be fun though, I think it will do it with ease if I drive the vehicle right. My dad towed the smaller excavator once that weighed 7500 lbs. when my brothers truck was in the shop. He has just a f-150 (extended cab, long bed) so she was a boat, and it did it no problem. And it has the tiny 4.6L v8.

if you ask me, it seems like your brother and you are in compitition, he gets the badass f350 1-ton made for towing, then you counter with a lift and big *** tires because you feel like your truck is a bitch truck now.
Then because you got the sweet lift and huge tires, and since your truck looks bigger then your brothers you try and proveto yourself, and prove your trucks not a bitch truck, so you say "hell dad my trucks not a bitch truck i'll tow the excavator home, ill show you guys" after all its bigger then your brothers f350 why not right???
You need to come to the reality that it's still just a puny 1500 ram, no matter how much you make it look like a real truck. its still a half ton.
So in closing, leave the towing and real work to your brothers heavy duty 1-ton, and leave the home depot runs to you're truck.

I know what you are saying, but I don't know about my truck being a "puny" truck. For a 1500, it's as strong as some 2500 chevy or fords. I look at my dad's F-150 and then I like at my 1500, and there is a HUGE differance. The dodge frame is enormous, it's as big as my brother's 350. Then the engine, that thing is enormous, its a 5.9L in a 1500, that's insane to me. My dad has a 4.6L v8, so you can see why I'm so shocked about it. If my dad's puny engine could do it, I'm sure this truck could do it no sweat. Obviously the lift does create an obticle illusion at times because it does just look so big, but beside from the lift and tires, this truck is actually a ballsy quarter ton. Everything is oversized about it (differentials, axles, frame, engine etc.). Dodge did a good job with their 1500 market, they didnt shortcut them at all. This is why I think it can do it. Im no dumby though, I completely get that my brothers truck is stronger, no questions. I mean, its a one-ton, that's a given. But I think for a 1500, dodge made a very superior one, and I think it has the ability to match some 3 quarter tons out there hands down. This theory is only for pure entertainment though, I thought it'd be fun to make a video at some point of me towing the excavator (its a short distance from the rental place to the site), and I thinkd you guys would enjoy seeing it!

Also stop calling your truck a quarter ton, its a half ton, the dakotas/rangers/s10's are quarter tons.
