LOL not sure! But I remember when I was buying the exhaust for my truck and everyone just kept saying, "man, it's goin to be loud, something about dodges that are loud!". And it was true, my little single inlet/dual outlet system is wayy louder than my brothers straight pipe true dual system on a 7.5L ford engine! It's incredible, and I love it lol. The noise is just addicting, I love it in every which way. I'm gonna be that ****in loser old guy with exhaust way too loud, I know I am, but I just dont see me ever getting sick of loud noises, it's sweeeet!

I have Edelbrock shorties with 1 5/8" primaries (most shorties are only 1 1/2"), and I could tell a noticable gain, but only at high rpm. Low end and mid range were unchanged that I could tell. I think they are too big for my 5.2, probably better suited for something with more cubes. But since headers cost between $300-$500, it is not something I have gotten around to changing to see if 1 1/2" would be better for low end.

Thanks I appreciate it. I was looking at the Edelbrocks myself.

Here's the ones I have. They are silver ceramic coated part# 65642. They have been excellent quality.

INDY, you have the pacesetter longtubes. What kind of results did you feel after you had them installed. Also, did it noticably increase the decibals on your exhaust system??

Does it really have any performance effect if they are painted? Or does it just keep things cooler if you have them ceramic coated? I live in FL so heat does factor into a lot of modding. I don't care about apperance over performance, but if the heat resonating off the bare tubes is a little much for the heat down here, ceramic would prevent further damage to other parts. Correct?

That's what is usually advertise. I've also heard they last a lot longer! When they are painted they are more prone to rusting. Keep in mind, stock manifolds are made of cast iron, so they are very durable! Headers are usually a lot weaker actually, but if you get the ceramic coated or stainless steel finishes, they are going to last a lot longer, keep it cooler down there, keep everything else cooler down there, and they look great too, ya cant beat that! I would never buy headers if they werent ceramic coated or stainless steel. Otherwise I'd just leave the stock manifolds on to keep from having any issues!
