I don't understand the reasoning for monitoring the post cat (downstream) o2 sensor.
Is cat efficiency what you want to monitor?
I would think you would want to tap into the pre-cat (upstream) o2 if you want to monitor rich/lean engine conditions.

Oops, sorry, just read what I wrote again and it should have said the pre-cat o2 sensor, not post-cat. Wonder why I typed that. The wires I described are still correct for the pre-cat sensor though, so if he followed the description of what wires to use, he is on the right sensor.

also i was wondering if you could tell me the wire color out of the four(1 grey, 2 white, 1 black) that i need to splice into at the oxygen sensor not the PCM. I talked to a dodge dealership and they said grey and i tried it and still nothing. The gauge i thought was the easist is turning out to be the hardest.[]

I don't think you fried it, but your splice may have caused the voltage #'s to change, thus throwing the code. Remove your splice, then clear the codes and see if it comes back.

So the wires that are on your a/f gauge are 1 gray, 2 white, and 1 black, is that correct? Or are those the wires on your o2?

18gage- black with light blue tracer---PCM sensor ground

"down-stream O2 sensor"

K, ill clear the codes and see what happens. Those are the wires on my O2 Sensor, the back of the gauge had something like 1 red 1 blackand 1 yellow 1 green. Where red was switched ignition, black-ground, yellow= Battery+, Green=Sensor input.

i have officially tried all 8 wires(4 on each sensor) with short test runs with nothing happeneing. Howver the blacks will peg it to rich and the rest will peg it to lean... I unplugged the + battery connection and my check engine light went away. I also looked for what you described earlier as the PCM and i cannot find it nor can i find the right wires, so a little more explination or possibly a picture would work wonders, thanks.

Mine pegs to rich as soon as I start the truck because it is in open loop mode (warm up mode) until it warms up. Once warmed up (which can take several minutes), the truck goes into closed loop mode (idle mode), and it starts operating normally, dithering with the closed loop fuel trims, or locking into an a/f setting when I get on the gas (back into an open loop mode like full throttle mode). Maybe you didn't let it run long enough to get into closed loop mode.

I'll post a picture of the wires I used, but you'll will have to wait till this weekend.
