Default Gas gauge or sending unit

Can someone tell me what’s up with either the Gas gauge or is it the sending unit? When the tank is full the gauge reads as full but after only 300 miles it reads empty and the gas warning light is on, now I know that the range for my trcuk is around 600 miles plus, Please help. Thanks

I am lucky to get 300 miles sometimes. I was thinking more on the lines of 250 to 300. Oh well I love the truck though, so have to make some sacirfices, right?

Yea the truck has a 35 gal tank and as long as I keep the speed down around 65 I get 18.5 to 21 miles to the gal which equals around 600 per tank full, But I still want to know what is wrong with Dodges gas gauge’s or their sending units

No offense, but I have to call BS on this, not in a 2ng gen 5.2 or 5.9 at aleast. I doubt in a 3.9 or V10 either. I have seen some ctd's that get that kind of mileage though.

No seriously the worst mileage I got with the 96 4X4 2500 5.9 Cummins was 17.8 and that was with my foot in it.
I bought the truck used with 148K and I drive 150 miles round trip to work three days a week.
The math is 18x35 min = 630

No freakin way, I got 478 miles to a 35 gallon tank one time. Impossible to get 600 miles. YOur speedo must be severely off, or your math is not quite right. Did you put a 4 banger in your truck???
