some guys with a heavy moded 318 used a 360 pcm and it work well . after im done im gonna try for **** and giggles

Is using a pcm for a bigger motor kind of like using heads from like, a 302 on a 289?

Thanks for all the replies! I am just trying to plan for the future. I am on a tight budget so I have to plan ahead for the future as far as I can. I plan on running this engine until it does finally give out, even if it does last another 200 thousand miles. But it does feel good to here some people say good things about the 5.2, I havent heard much good stuff about them. I will put it to the test though. Thanks again for all the replies!!

hi i new to the forum but i got a 1999 dodge durango with a 5.9 engine that went bad and i was wondering if a motor from a 1994 dodge ram pickup 5.9 2500 would fit my durango with out having to change alot of parts on it like the alternator for my durango is 117 amps and for the ram it is only 90 would that make a difference i really need some advise im stuck.

of if you like to have a little fun with the 318 drop a 360 pcm into it ..

I have a 318 and run the MP 360 pcm because I got a good deal on it. Makes the thing run better then it should for only 3.55 gears.

If you're doing an engine swap, I would recommend using all of the bolt-ons from your current vehicle. Your computer is set up for them already so it will make the most sense.

While you have the engines out, I would highly recommend you purchase an overhaul gasket set (Felpro not a cheap set) and replace all of the gaskets you can while they are easily reachable. Timing cover, intake manifold, intake manifold plenum, thermostat (good time to put in a new thermostat) exhaust manifold, water pump, oil pan (spend the extra $50 and install a new Melling High Volume Oil Pump - good inexpensive insurance), anything that can be replaced. Also replace the hoses, especially the small one from the top of the water pump to the block.

This extra care will go a long way into preventing future issues and it only adds a couple hours to the overall swap time,
