Default Oil Leak Help

My son has a 1998 Ram 1500 with the 5.9L engine. It's bleeding oil like a stuck pig out of the top of the engine, at the back. We replaced the oil pressure sending unit that did not fix the problem. I'm thinking rear intake manifiold valley seal. Is there anything else it could be???

I assume you checked the obvious stuff like the valve covers?

yes I sure have. Thanks for the reply. Does the distributor housing go into an oil gallery?

could be your sending unit didnt seat in right or not fully tighten , could be the back of the plenium gasket. get some brake cleaner and clean it up back there , then get a mirrior and start looking.

We tore it down last night. The rear manifold valley seal was definately the cause. You could see on the bottom of the intake where it had not sealed for most of the distance across. Plenum gasket was in bad shape as well.

When I had the same problem I didn't lose oil, I lost anti-freeze. I actually thought my heater core had let loose. At least now you can fix the plenum gasket without adding much additional work.

Truck is back together now and all is dry! Had to tow the boy home from work last night. Acted like it ran out of gas. Fuel delivery problem. Fuel pump is bad, line is frozen, bad relay, etc.... Pump doesn't run when key is turned on. More fun today!

I would have sworn you put the sending unit in the wrong hole. I did the same thing back in the summer.
