Default Lift Questions..

Hey, i recently purchased a 99 dodge ram 1500 quadcab 2wd, got an awesome deal on it and couldn't pass it up.

heres some recent pics
http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1003928qo9.jpg
http://img131.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1003930wh7.jpg

personally i hate how the truck sits so low and sags in the front. iv read through alot of threads and couldn't quite find what i was looking for, so i decided to make an account finally and see if i can get some help.

some things i have in mind:

2 inch leveling kit - http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/I...22456611043620
3 inch body lift - http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...tt=body%20lift
3 inch suspension lift - http://store.topguncustomz.com/store...amp;i=70221096

now i figure with a leveling kit i can keep my tires which are cooper st's 265/75/r16's. or get a 3 inch body/suspension and get a new set of 295's or 305's maybe? im not even sure. i think i still have the stock rim so its 16x7. but i was looking at this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STYLE...em120214259474

would 16x10's just fit right on no problems? whats this backspacing i'm reading about?

and last but not least, how much would this run to have a shop do it? though i could probably do it myself and save some money.. but if its not that much then i would rather just pay and not take 6 hours out of my time to mess with it(as from what iv read). and what are some other complications or things that aren't being said up front? any so called problems with any of those kits? anything performance wise i would have to change?

iv seen some nice *** lookin trucks on here and i just want mine to sit up a little higher with some bigger tires, and fyi if i could of gotten a 4wd i would have, but this thing was sooo cheap i couldn't pass it up.. my next truck is gonna be a 4wd FORSURE!

here is 2 trucks i seen that i really like.. http://img165.imageshack.us/my.php?image=01raman6.jpg and http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/5773/sigxi6.jpg (hope ya don't mind im usin your sig as an example) i know the first one probably has a 6inch suspension lift with a 3 inch body correct? but what would it take for my truck to sit up a bit higher and have a little bigger tires and make them stick out of the sides a bit..

thanks in advance..

ok so iv looked into this a little more and i think the look i want with the tires is "tire spacers" anyone know a good size? 1inch 1.5, 2inch?

for the look i want, and considering my situation with the new tires i already have which are 365/75/16's would a 2 inch leveling kit and 1inch tire spacers be the best route? or would a 3 inch suspension lift (that's 3 in the front 1 in the back correct?) look good with my current tires would would it look all funky? how big of a tire can i squeeze on with a 3inch lift?

thanks in advance..

2-3" is 33's I think. 5" is 35's 265's are a little under 33's. I wouldnt recomend tire spacers because it limits the amount of threads available for the lug nut to attach your wheel. I did run spacers on an old mustang on the front only, but... I also had new studs welded in for strength. Hope this helps.

most 285's are a 33, but the super swamper ssr 285/75R16 is a 34. And i'm pretty sure that is the biggest tire you can fit, with some rub, under a 3in lift. By the way thats a coollookin truck. Also, fabtech makes some really good kits, they are just a little more expensive.

A 285/75R16 tire comes out to a 32.8"X11.2"

Now each companys probably measures different but thats the size it's supposed to be.

To easily convert them go to this site.

the stock size tires that were on my 2wd were 225's (29in), and they looked pretty funny. i recently upgraded to 265's which looks much better. if you did the 3in but kept the 265's it might look a little goofy, but not terrible. to get a good idea of what it would look like you could put the truck on stands adjusted to make it 3in higher in the front and 1in higher in the back. this way you could actually see what it would look like, instead of trying to guess. if you feel like keeping the 265's, i would just level it, that would look just fine.

I consider 285's to be 33's Being 265's are the next size under the 285's for our trucks, hense why they are "a little under" in my book.

As far as your spacers, a few people were looking over here http://www.hellbentsteel.com/BB/Blac...ling-kits.html and getting these. They look very well assembled in my opinion, and powder coated black. Way better than those poly hat thingsimho. Take a look, thats what i'm putting on mine this summer I think.
