so my catalytic converter is making the rocks in a tin can sound. so I looked online and found a magnaflow Part# 94037. Seems to be rather popular around the forum as a replacement. I called the local muffler shop to find out if they can install it. I told him I was going to get the Magnaflow and he said he would not install it. They were junk and actually had them catch fire. He also said that he had to go to court and testify against magnaflow because they were not the correct heat range. he went on and on and said they only offer 1/16th more flow and its just best to look for a "Y" adapter and a regular catalytic converter.
I am going to call around to find out if thats the normal consensus.
Edit:
First Call was to Munro $900+ to replace w/factory unit.
Second call was to Midas $300 to gut the original and use a universal.
... will update by "edit" as I make my calls.

well personally i would get it the old one chopped out. To give it a cleaner look, but then again it would probably cost more money to do that

As long as it makes it run fine or better, I am fine with it.
I don't need it clogging up, so I will have to get it done after I get the tranny rebuilt.

Actually I'm going to tell you how to save some money right now...
1.) go to your local auto parts store. Buy 2new exhaust clamps for your muffler $12
2.) Go home, cut your muffler off as close to the inlets as possbile so as not to waste pipe
3.) with the muffler off take a broom stick and start jamming it up into your cat like you're trying to kill it with a spear.
4.) Take your truck for a ride down the highway until it quits blowing chunks of **** out of the open pipe. You want to make sure it's all out because otherwise particles can fly though and mess your muffler up. You'll know once everythings out because it will be LOUD
5.) go home and let everything cool off (touching a hot cat will give you a condition known as "grilled cheese hand" which is where the skin on your hand stays attatched to the cat after you pull your hand away from it and it looks like grilled cheese strings. It is very painful and I do not reccomend it)
6.) Knock on the cat to make sure there isn't anything still rattling around in there. If there is repeat step 4
7.) Put your muffler back on and clamp it up. Voila.
