Sounds like a super charger to get that kind of whp from a 318 and still keep it drivable.

if you look on any dodge dealer specs the dakota are like 320 hp off the factory floor in 1997 then tuned them down in 1998 because they kept destroying the dana 35s and the transfer cases

Not from any information I can find....... Highest I see is 250 for the 5.9 liter.

You also need to bear in mind manufacturers ratings are FLYWHEEL horsepower. You can expect somewhere in the neighborhood of 30% power loss thru the driveline. (especially with an automatic trans.)

Ya, i've never seen anything that said a Dakota had 320hp in 1997, not even at the flywheel.

Hughes sells them, as do a couple members here on the site. Check the classified section.

and excuse me i stand corrected that 210hp i looked at the print outs again they are about 3 years old. and its 290 tc

Stock was 230 hp and 300 tc

here is the specs website: http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/sp...ota&trimid=280

And after i reinstall said motor with Silvers intake mod and 180 stat aem tb spacer and aem 4.5 inch cold air with a k&n intake filter. im still running stock manifolds because the headers are in the oven getting ceramic coated. the only other mod i have done with the truck is in the computer it has been reprogrammed to allow for the specs of the 1998 r/t fuel curve (tho it only waste fuel being im running the nv3500 tranny) i have also stripped as much weight that was unless as possable also converted from the 22 gallon gas tank to the 15 gallon tank.

Forgive me if i'm just reading incorrectly, but, "headers are in the oven getting ceramic coated." Does this mean, this is something I can do on my own with a set of stainless headers? Because I'd be more then happy to ceramic my own headers, even if it stinks up my house, as long as it saves me a couple hundred dollars.
