Kegger Intake Mod DIY
my primary range isn't north of 3500, so i will be more focused on low end, just want something a little mild over stock and most i can find are 2-6k range, if theres a specific type of specific cam for that application could do well with the info.
You want to look for something that goes from idle, to 4500 or so, or 1000-5000 RPM. Give Comp, or Crane cams a call, and chat with one of their techs, let them know what you want, and they can come up with a good recommendation for ya.
Or check summit/jegs. They usually have a good selection as well.

found a hydrualic roller thats a 1200-5400, thats about what my range is going to be with the stock trans setup. i remember reading somewhere that the magnums engines had roller cams stock from the early 90's over the LA motors, what all would i need for a hydrualic roller as far as rockers and all that? got some knowledge but this is where i need my learnin's.

I have a stock 99 5.9 4x2 and a modded 01 5.9 4x4. Side by side and driving either one back to back the 01 has a sharper throttle, needs less throttle to get up to speed and to accelerate. It shifts up to the next gear sooner, and does not need to downshift as soon as the 99 to accelerate from cruising speed when they are driven side by side. Its hard to tell the effect of the kegger compared to the other mods, but down low the 01 is really snappy compared to the 99. When I put the smaller 245/75 tires from the 99 on the 01, its like night and day difference between the 2. The 01 breaks loose on pavement much easier.
99 5.9 auto, all stock. 245/75r16, plenum is good, truck has been garage kept and never experiences the extremes of winter.
01 5.9 auto, 4x4 265/75r16, kegger mod, SCT tune, Ebay headers, magnaflow y-pipe/cat.
I was planning on doing the plenum fix on the 99 because I had bought 2 aluminum plenum pans, so I am going to do the kegger to that one too. Hopefully I'll remember to either data log, or at least time+video some accelerations as a comparison. If I can get my data logging software to work with a dodge (or find some free software) that would be ideal, then I could come up with a basic dyno chart.

Could it be the gearing difference in the tyranny because of the 4x4? Ive noticed regular Dakotas don't have the pep my 4x4 version has.. with the same motor or even the newer motor.. I test drove at the dealers a 98 5.2 and a 2002 model.. had the 4.x motor in it..
Just saying. 4x4 is geared different.

^^ The trans gearing does not differ from 2wd to 4wd. The rear end gears might, and the completely different trans behind the 4.7 (45rfe as opposed to your 46re) is obviously going to be geared differently.
45rfe: 3.0, 1.67/1.5, 1.0, .75
46re: 2.45, 1.45, 1.0, .69

Having had my engine apart due to stupidity I had the opportunity to do this mod but was not on the board at that time. It looks like it is a nice mod and cleaning everything up makes it look a lot nicer too but after everything said and done did it improve the gas mileage any? I know its been some time since this mod was published so hopefully all those who have done it can now comment.
Thanks in advance
