I don't think your going to find a shop that will gut your cat, its a big fine for them.If your leaning tword the fake dual 44 chat with 01dodgeram360 (formerly 20DodgeNeon), he's got that setup and seems to really like it.

Yeah, any reputable shop won't take the chance on gutting your cat. I went to one shop that wouldn't even replace the cats until the vehicle had at least 80K miles on it. Yes, split exit is one muffler and usually sounds pretty good. If you want louder, just replace the cat with a high-flow and split it out the rear with no muffler.

In that case, a Flowmaster Super 44 would probably be a good choice. I think it may be about the most bang for the buck when you want a loud single muffler. I have a Magnaflow, but I didn't really want it to be too loud. Mine sounds nice for normal driving, but it'll growl at WOT.

Check out the "Cherry bomb extreme"

A couple of the guys over at pavementsucks.com said the super 40 is louder and sounds better than the 44. The 44 is smaller (it's made for sports cars that would have clearance problems with the super 40) and doesn't sound as good. I think they both sound alright. Personally I like my original 40 more than both, but when I redo my exhaust I think I'm gonna put the Cherry bomb extreme on.

If you want it loud I'd say Flowmaster 10 series are the way to go. If you want decently loud but still not too loud check out the Flowmaster 40.

I think any flowmaster muffler you go with (40, 44, 10) or cherry bomb exteme, you will be very happy. It's what you are into though. What I can say is that the 40 series and 44 series mufflers drone A LOT. I don't know if you have a lot of people in your vehicle or not, but if you do, you may want to think twice. I run the SUPER 44, and with the set-up I run, it is one of the loudest truck I've ever heard with a muffler. And it drones CONSTANTLY lol. I love it, but most people don't even want to drive in my truck because the exhaust is just always taking over the cab, especially if you get stuck in the drone torchure backseat lmao. So I just want to throw that out there that if you at all have to drive people around a lot and you don't want them to be uncomfortable, then be careful of flowmaster. But if you're like me and don't give a crap, go for a 40 series flowmaster. I wouldnt waiste my time with a 10 series though, I'd rather just go straight to the cherry bomb extreme if you wanted it extremely loud. If you are leery if you can get your cat gutted, go with the cherry bomb extreme because it will be loud no matter what. I do need to point out that I'm not really sure why the 44 is perceived exclusively for cars, thats not the case. It's smaller to be louder, and it's considered their "performance/most flowing" muffler. I really love it, and it is very obnoxious. Again, I got to say, if you go with a 40 series or a 44 you will be happy. I bet my money that the cherry bomb extreme is the most extreme of them all though, and it's better than the 10 series because it has a dual outlet option unlike the flowmaster 10 series race muffler. Goodluck with doing your exhaust, exhaust is sweet[8D]
