I am running synthetic oil in my 99 Ram with at 5.9, I change it about every 5,000 and have to add about a quart before the next oil change. Does that mean that its leaking oil at the plenum or is that normal for an engine with 113,000 ?

putting synthetic oil in a high mileage vehicle is asking for a leak. the sludge built up in a high mileage vehicle stops leaks most of the time. when u run normal oil, it cant get thru the cracks. once u run slippery synthetic, it finds its way thru the cracks once held together by the sludge and then u get a leak. yay.
That is a myth which dates back to the 1970's. Today's synthetics and engine seals are far superior that those of days past.

We can't read every thread, sorry. But your right, there's a couple of guys that seem to like to pop into threads and steer it into the wall. It's becoming a real problem I think. I've mentioned it to the admins.

He's not a mod, he's an admin, so i think he can post what he likes. That thread has gotten off topic though too. Like I said, it is a reoccuring problem around here.

Sorry, didn't mean to open a can of worms, but I get frustrated watching thread after thread where someone is asking a geniune question and looking for help, and instead they get ridicule or some ridiculously stupid post that wastes everyone's time and is totally off topic. I don't know if it is some people's attempt at humor, or if they just want to be f*ckin ******. Either way, just because you have a nice truck and are a post *****, that doesn't necessarily mean that you should just be allowed to force your idiocracy upon everyone. If you have nothing of value to add to the conversation, please don't feel the need to be a nuisance.

I dont mind the humor in some of the reply's but it does take a little longer to go through and glean the information out of. I haven't looked in my plenum yet, will do that this weekend. Im interested to see if the high mileage syn oil makes any difference. Thanks for all the posts and advice!!
