It's new, unless they painted my old one fricken blue lol. He told me this transmission was their top of the line heavy duty transmission. Their dodge replacement was $2200 in. This "top notch" one was $3600 installed. It could be as simple as them not putting fluid in it, or the tq or valve body. I'm just stunned though, how could they let my truck leave that lot like that? I literally wanted to vomit driving the truck, I couldnt believe it. I barely got it to my parents house, I was going 32mph in 50mph zones because it'd shutter if I tried going any faster. This truck is seriouslly posssessed, everytime I get something done to it, something go wrongs. The headers, the transmission, body work...list goes on. Here's Maine for you, a bunch of incompentent mechanics. However, he didn't say I was his top customer, but I just assume I've got to be on his top at the moment with a $4,000 job, right? I'm bringing it back tomorrow morning, and I'm going in with my dad. I'm going to tell him how sick I feel how the truck is driving. How could they do that to their customer? They will not get rid of me until my truck drives off in the sunset smoothly shifting like a brand new heavy duty transmission is supposed to.

For the money, I paid them with a money order. So it is documented, but I don't have a way of cancelling the order. They have been paid. I'm really happy I didn't let them do that job. Imagine me giving them $5,000, and then dealing with this still? Uh. I'm just really disgraced right now, I can't believe I get my truck back after 3.5 weeks and $4,033 later, and I have a truck stutterring worse than the old transmission. Maybe it's something simple, maybe it's something computer related, either way, I'm shocked they would let my truck leave that shop without it being PERFECT, you don't do that to a customer, that's the most bizarre thing in the world. Thank you all for your continued help. I know my threads are always like 1,000 pages long. Even though I have a very nice truck, I also have the worse plroblems than anybody, this is why my pages are so long. So it's not like I live in dream world with this truck. The day this truck runs the way it looks, I'll be one stressed out unhappy man...

Go out and check your fluid. Runnin it w/ no fluid will make things worse than they already are.

Would bands being loose make it whine? I could see that making it shift funny but I've never heard of that causing it to wine or grind or clunk. That sounds like a lot bigger of an issue to me.

You should have just gone with a APS and found another shop to install it. I spent right over $4000 and got a APS thats pretty well built and it installed by one of the best local mechanics around. I might have had $4350 or so into it by the time I got the cooler put on but it's a nice B&M I spent the money on through jegs then had them install it and make the lines for it.

As for new I highly doubt it's new more than likely it's still rebuilt just new to you. For one Dodge doesn't even sell new transmissions themselves anymore as they now only sell rebuilt ones. They also aren't blue so clearly it's been painted or powder coated. APS is the only company I know of that has brand new OEM Mopar transmissions. They give you the option of going with a rebuilt or starting with one of those new ones then having it built from there. The rebuilt ones are even cheaper and he replaces everything but the case so he said it would only be a couple hundred cheaper. I went with a new one but I'm guessing the rebuilt would be the same as you have now and probably have not cost you much if any more. I wouldn't trust this shop to work on anything else on the truck. Aren't you glad you didn't let them put one of their heavy duty LSD's in?

Honestly I hope you get it worked out as I really don't know enough about them to know what it could be. The whine sounds like it could be a issue with the pump or the pressure inside the transmission but I really don't know. I don't know if this would cause the other issues or not. Hopefully this isn't one of those deals where it is constantly being worked on like my buddys until it finally gets replaced but I have a feeling it may be. Hopefully your luck will turn around. Keep us updated on what it was.

I feel for ya man. I've having my own problems with my Dakotas trans. Thing was a pain in the *** to get out, and, now I can't get the transfer case off the old trans. Now I'm kinda wishing I had someone do this job for me... [&:]

Dude I really feel for you. Try to remember the guy's here on the form are not trying to make money from any advise they give. You really had some great advise on here and even when you ignored it all they supported you.

That said PLEASE take some more advise call the bank first thing and cancel the check. I will cost you some money but do it and tell the shop you have done it AFTER the fact. Then if you keep this transmission PLEASE pay for it with a credit card then you have some other recourse and a way of getting your money back through the card company.

Did you ever get the build sheet?

He said it was a money order. Pretty much as good as cash, no way to cancel it. Just my two cents, but I never use money orders, cash, or CCs for that large of a transaction. I always write a check. Creats a nice, neat paper trail and you can cancel or hold it quickly with one call to the bank.

+1. Get a build sheet and let's see what exactly they did.
