i've used royal purple - loved that stuff. noticed minor improvement in milage, lower rpm on highway in OD, etc.
How would it lower your rpms when your TC should be locked up...?
It wont!

I've been wanting to use RP, but the Amsoil debate is intriguing to me. And that quaker state TQ oil is cheaper. Ah, darn oil. So many choices. Lol.

dunno why i typed that, low blood sugar or something - what i actually meant was that after the royal purple I was able to cruise at higher speeds on the highway towing my enclosed trailer without having to turn the OD off.

This data on RP says there are possible problems during extended drain intervals. So, if you change your oil more often, there are no issues.

My point is if you are shelling out tons of money for your oil, why not get the Amsoil which is obviously the superior product? Honestly I think RP is actually not a bad oil, superior to many other oils, but is not better than Amsoil.

I'd like to see a list of these classifications for Oil.

It seems kind of suspicious to me that all that info was done by a wholeale amsoil dealer. Everything I hear "reputable" about Amsoil comes from a sales site of that product. The prior good things I have heard about Royal Purple come from preople who used it and non-affiliated sites. I don't think Amsoil is bad, it's just I have yet to come across a valid debate as to which Oil really is better.

I use Royal Purple and try to still change it every 3k. I sometimes will go 4k. I know this is probably way overkill but it keeps my mind a peace.

You know, jut putting in synthetic engine oil does not make sense unless you have synthetic in the engine, TC, Tranny, and both differentials. Basically the powertrain and driveline need to be fully synthetic to see a noticeable difference.

THats why i run Castrol GTX. Autozone sells the gallons for 8 bucks and i get a tall mobil 1 filter. Can't complain at all with it. If you use dino oil, there is no difference in synthetic in youn are changing the oil every 3 months.

If you really wantto gain HP froman oil change. Run only 2 quarts of 5w20 oil. That way all the oul will basically be sucked out of the oil pan and there won;t be a pool of oiltherefor the rotating assembly to hit, this adding friction. Thats what bracket racers do....but they are only going 1/4 mile.

I have never heard of anyone taking .1 off their 1/4 with a synthertic oil change. If you are gonna do synthetic engine oil, you better do everything else if you want to see a difference.

hey guys,

well i changed the oil at about 1230 today and ive drivin probably 20 miles so far and i do notice the engine just seems to run smoother and it sounds better.. and i did a compression test before the change today too and all cylinders were running at about 120psi so thats pretty good and im giong to do another early next week just to check it out. i bought the royal purple for $7.33 a quart.. a little expensive but i just wanted to check it out and will see if i reuse or just go back to quaker state high milage. ive also been keeping track of my gas milage, i calculate it everytime but never record it.. but today since i added the royal purple, restore, and i added a dose of lucus fuel injection cleaner, im going to record it for now on, along with mods and repairs. do you really have to run all synthetics in the whole powertrain for it to work? ill post the second compression test that i do next week just so everyone can know.
