You know, jut putting in synthetic engine oil does not make sense unless you have synthetic in the engine, TC, Tranny, and both differentials. Basically the powertrain and driveline need to be fully synthetic to see a noticeable difference.
THats why i run Castrol GTX. Autozone sells the gallons for 8 bucks and i get a tall mobil 1 filter. Can't complain at all with it. If you use dino oil, there is no difference in synthetic in youn are changing the oil every 3 months.
If you really wantto gain HP froman oil change. Run only 2 quarts of 5w20 oil. That way all the oul will basically be sucked out of the oil pan and there won;t be a pool of oiltherefor the rotating assembly to hit, this adding friction. Thats what bracket racers do....but they are only going 1/4 mile.

I've been running rp for a while now and love the product. i usually change it out every 4-5K. i went to 9k (says you can get 12k(, but got nervous about having so many miles on the oil, and changed it. I did notice a difference in mpg. I track my mpg religiously. I always fill the tank, and always record it. i was averaging 13.4 and after switching to RP, i average 13.9 with the best mileage being 14.4. Not saying its a huge difference, but it helps. I also switched the rear diff to RP and its fine. Havn't had problems with it. In fact, its made for LSD's like ares (according to the bottle). I wont put it into the tranny however, because RP needs an additive for our trucks in the tranny. I have a problem putting additives into the tranny. they have enough problems without putting extras into them. But all and all, i would recommend Rp to anyone. However, i have never used amsoil or any other synthetic. so take it for what its worth.

There is much to read about all different kinds of oil but when it comes down to it, it seems like amsoil is at the top of the list. I'll keep it short and just say this. Amsoil backs it's oil for 25,000 miles, Royal Purple Backs theirs for 12,000 miles. What does that say?

Anyone who doesn't change their oil for 25,000 miles is, to put it politely, really misguided.
Not saying Amsoil isn't better than Royal Purple, and I'm not saying Royal Purple is better either. I haven't done enough research myself to make a choice yet. For now, I'll just stick with my Mobil 1.

I never said anything about filtration. Just manufacturers` regular warranty on the regular lifespan of their oil with most common setup being cheap 5 dollar filter replaced every say 3,000 - 6,000 miles depending on the driving conditions.
In reality though, a person could run regular cheapo oil in their motor for far more than 3,000 miles so long as there is a very good filter in place, removing particles at least 1-10 microns in size and up , along with regular scheduled oil analysis in order to keep tabs on excess dirt fouling things up so a person knows when to change the filter element, and to make sure the oil's PH level and additive qualities are still up to par. However, Amsoil and Royal Purple both say their oils can go for longer then 25,000 or 12,000 miles. Reason being is high quality filtration and regular oil analysis.

Amsoil sells filters as well and I think they even guarantee them for the life of the oil (not sure though.)
