Why does that fact that you are running 285's make you think you can run 35's???
If you have only 3" of lift, you will rub the fender well edges with 35's. In addition, with 15x10 rims, and 12.50" wide tires, you will rub the control arms too. You can fit 35's on 3" of lift, but you better get your sawzall warmed up.

Do your current 285s rub a little when you turn the truck hard to the left or right? Most do, because they are slightly to big for stock height Rams like ours. No one's saying 285s don't fit the space, its just when you turn that you usually have problems (the width of the tire).

You'll have to do some trimming and banging to fit 35's on a 3". The rears are fine, nothing there. The fronts, (and you may need to do more since it's a Sport) you'll need to remove some plastic fender tub and flatten a seam. I think it was about 6" - 8"s of plastic front and rear on the front fenders. The seam at the rear of the wheel well needs to be pounded flat. You'll use a BFH for that. There's a tiny bit or metal that needs to be cut away but nothing major.
