What is the lower intake gasket? The shop asked if I wanted the upper one changed and I told them the pleneum which he said was the upper so I'm assuming thats all I'm getting changed.
I'll be watching in on this one too.. I havent even opened the box from Hughes yet, ( but will right after this! ) Just waiting for the HS RR's, and the valve coversto get here before I start everything...( and a little warmer day would be nice.) Still havent decided if I'll do the lifters and pushrods yet either. Keep us up-to-date!

I put the Hughes kit in as well, it said not to use RTV, I thought about using Ultra copper but didn't.
So far so good, I do think a small bead of Ultra Copper could insure a better seal, but a gasket should also be able to hold without it.
In hindsight I may have gotten the APS kit, even though the price was the same, it seems like there is more that comes with it.

heres two... paperwork says not to use it any sealent. Not sure if i trust that gasket or not. Have heard alot of guys who have them in and no leaks.. any who have had them leak? Which gasket was it and did you use any sealent? I was planning on some ultra copper.
Forgot to mention.. the upper gaskets are metal, with metal and rubber front and back gaskets for anyone who is ordering the intake kit with the plenum reinforcment kit. With the upper intake kit, they also send you new manifold bolts.. tighten-to-yield.

If I was doing this, I'd feel more comfortable with a very thin bead of sealant. I dont see how that would hurt anything, in my mind it only benefits. But I'm talking about a bead in the MM scale, nothing over a Centimeter.

yeah.. I'm thinking the same way.. really thought maybe a metal and rubber design like the front and rear gaskets would be really nice here.. espeacially on such a flat surface.. oh well.. alittle more research I guess.. many have installed with nothing and having a good seal...guess time will tell.
