Lol... well the first time was unintentional. I was in my database class and yea... saw it and was like wow... Next time I was in my Network Installation and Maintainance lab. Decided to check randomly to see what was new topics came up and... saw 488. Screen shot'd it on the lab computer and posted it up. Yes, my life is that boring up here at college that I have nothing else better to do....
You were talking about in the future, your unsure if you are gonna drop it back down a bit. In my opinion... stick with your 4.10's. If you know for sure that you are going to keep the 35's and lift for life... go for the 4.56's But...yea, its your pocket.

lol. Where you just sitting their watching so you could take that screen shot, or did you have to go in and out of the topic a few times yourself to increase the hit count.
What do I do when it says 513?

Yeah tell me about it. Even after the new transmission, I still plan to get rid of the mud tires and get the procomp all-terrains...those only run ya about $1150..

Well, no go on the tachometer. I swapped in the new cluster (from an '01 truck), fired up the truck, and everything worked great. Tach was working perfectly. Then after the truck idled for about 15 seconds, the odometer displayed "No Bus". So something is not right with that cluster and my PCM. Could be the year to year compatability. I put my gauge cluster back in, and truck is fine again. Just no tach. Guess i'm going to just go with an aftermarket tach instead. So the gear decision will have to wait until I get that installed and get an accurate rpm picture.
If anyone with an '01 truck is looking for a gauge cluster with a tach to replace yours without, (though I think all '01's had a tach according to the service manual), let me know. It has 89,045 miles on the odometer.

Sorry to hear it didn't work, that must been a pain in the *** having to swap those out. I remember did that on my neon. My car didn't come with a tach stock, just really bothered me. I had a 2000 dodge neon. But I bought a 2003 gauge cluster off ebay. Looked really nice and had a white background to it. Everything worked great, but the only problem was that the mileage was different. Luckily it was only off about 5,000 miles in my favor, so nothing too drastic. But the whole time I owned it there was this red led light that just always stayed on. Obviously it was some kind of sign that it wasn't meant for the car or that someone swapped the original cluster out. I actually just wound up putting electrical tape over it before I traded the car in. I was honest about the mileage though, and said that it was "unknown". Guy didn't seem to have a problem with that luckily, and then off I went with my beautiful black dodge

Just my opinion. If I already had 4.10's then I probably would have left it there unless going over 35's. The 4.56's seem ideal but it would depend on the type of driving for the individual. Everyone drives different, but if you spend most of your time in O/D under 1700 RPM's the truck probably bogs down, has no pick up, and kicks out off O/D a lot to maintain. If under normal highway driving it will not stay put then either the gears or tires should probably get changed.
Me I drove around a couple off years on 35's with 3.55 gears before biting the bullet on the cash to change them out. Figured it was either do that or keep running around without O/D at high RPMs or spending the money to replace the trans from the stress that it gets in O/D. Great improvement over the 3.55.
Another thought on this is how many of ourspeedometers are acurate on our trucks to give a good reference of speed to RPM advise. Me I just drive in the left lane a hair faster than everyone else, or the same if rolling along.
