Ok, you guys are not going to frickin beleive this. I'm having 01DodgeRam360 kind of luck here.

The shop that has my truck said the new (and supposedly improved) rebuild kit for my Auburn limited slip arrived today. Upon installing it, the same area that broke on my old unit broke on this unit. And that was just while they were installing it!!!!!!

They called Auburn who was were flabbergasted. They overnighted another one, and it should be here tomorrow. Auburn said that piece should not break at all with its new design they are using, and they really can't understand how that happened. They are known for the quality of their stuff, so this is really a suprise to me and the shop that has my truck. I'm leary to try another rebuild kit from them, and am only willing to due to their reputation for quality. The shop said they would inspect it when it arrives, and if it seems like it might break again, then i'm going to have them either put in a Detroit limited slip, or just an open carrier.

Ah yikes, I hope it was just some kind of weird recall on those older styled Auburns, otherwise I'm nervous to get one of those (if I ever do the job). Your lucky that all you have to do is replace the LSD though. Still a big job, but I bet I'm making you feel a little better about your situation

I don't even know what I'm going to do. I mean, christ, wtf does it mean I have to replace my whole rear end...**** THAT. And I can't even like bring it to the offroad guys, they are literally across the fricken street, they'll see me and feel very disrespected, I can't do that. Ahh. I suppose I just have to wait till tomorrow to see what's going on. I'm very stressed out though. I don't even know if I want my dad coming tomorrow with me. He'll just start building up more anger against this stupid truck. This is why they pick on it, because it's a giant fairytale truck with giant ****ing problems. I don't even get to play and I'm still ****ing paying for this truck....WTF.

Like I said though He is about the only person I've heard have a issue with a Auburn. I've heard of a few others but also heard of quite a few who love theirs. Same can be said for the Detroits though I've seen people say they have blown them up. This is why I say pick which one fits your needs better. I have seen people have problems with both.

Anyway I hope your luck turns around and you get this thing fixxed. Be sure to let us know how you like the gears when you get it done. Are you enjoying your new Suzuki Swift?

You can take it to the off road guys, they won't feel disrespected. They feel money. You'll have to suck up your pride, that's the hard part.

Take it there, get it fixed right.

lol, so far, I only drove it during my pre-purchase testdrive, and then across town to get it home. Did a tune up on it tonight, and was amazed how good everything looked. Used, but not in bad shape at all. Tomorrow I will be changing the oil and inspecting the chassis and brakes. If eveything meets my satisfaction, i'll be driving it to work on Friday. Glad I have it right now since it seems there is a chance the truck won't be back to me anytime soon. This is when I wish I could do my own differential work, but it is one of the few things i've never done and will gladly leave to the experts.

Auburn has a great reputation for the quality of all their products, including their limited slip units. I would still recommend them to anyone, even with the isolated issues I am having.

Picked the truck up tonight. It was so great to drive it again. Then I had to put $65 in gas into it and that kinda burst my bubble.

The shop said the new retainer clip looked better, and they installed it using a different method that ensured there was no stress on the area that broke last time. They thought it looked pretty good, though they wondered why it was made out of stamped steel instead of billet or something stronger. Guess time will tell if this one will hold up. If it doesn't, no more Auburn for me.

As for the 4.56 gears, I didn't really get on it much because I need to break them in first (500 to 1000 miles), but my initial impression is that they feel great. Reminds me of how the truck was with 33's and 4.10's, but still have a lot of testing to do. Acceleration seemed much easier, and the cruising rpm around town was much more usable. Hope the same can be said when I get it on the highway. I'll keep you posted on the how these work out once I really start using them.

Cant tell by the picture , those things just dont wear out or just get a chip in them with out something going wrong (like the rear just explodes ) the outter C clips just dont get replace unless something went wrong , either this guy installed his own gear and was using a screw driver and hammer (even that doesnt make sense ) or had a slight wobble , even that you can feel ..if it wasnt for bad luck you wouldnt have non at all..
