You can't even fit a matress on the bed without it hanging out lol.
Not true as I've had a matress in my truck before with the tail gate closed. It fit perfectly snug.

That being said, anybody with those so called trucks with the little 4 foot or shorter boxes need to have their heads examined.
Amen to that.

Depends on the mattress. My wife and I recently purchased a Queen sized mattress and box spring from Slumberland. When I hauled it, it barely did not fit inside my box, had to drive with the tailgate down. However, I have to take into consideration that box spring + mattress was a good three feet high (its a really nice mattress), even with low-profile box spring, so the tonneau cover "roll" at the front wouldn't let it go all the way to the front of the box. So I suppose it might barely be possible if you don't have a tonneau cover like mine.

We are going to haul a twin size mattress to the twin cities here soon for my wife's little brother who's moving out of the dorms at his college and into an apartment. I've measured that, and that will fit easily within the box.

I mean, yesterday I had to pick up some tables for my parents, and both trips the tables needed the gate down, and rope down, sucked. Brother pulls up, pops it on, shuts his gate, end of story. So, they pick on me. But when we go out, I pick on him because he has the useless single cab[8D]

don't be banging on the single cab, thats how the old trucks came, if people wanted to haul other people, they bought a car or a van. Take your truck out in the woods and see if the others can keep up, I rest my case

Sounds to me like each of you have certain built in conveniences based on the truck you own. You with the extended cab and him with the 8 foot box.

My all-time favorite truck was my 75 Ford F100 regular cab with the 6 foot fleet side box. Had a 65 Mercury Police Interceptor with matching tranny and rear axle in it. Never did hit a top end in that truck.Still kick myself for selling it even though that was like 25 years ago. To slow down I traded it in on a 1980 Turbo Trans Am (Smokey and the Bandit Model).

Iv packed more in my single cab comfortably than I could in my buick...utilizing my tonneau as a huge trunk. Any way you cut it, a truck is a truck and they all rock. If your talking pure trucking like mstephen89 said, thats what the original trucks were! There wasnt such a thing as a double cab for DECADES! Just take the jabs from your folks and quit upsetting people.

Hey 01dodgeram I am not sure what you are bitching about as you have a very nice looking truck. If your family is ******* you about then maybe just let it roll off your back. I have a extended cab SB and it suits me just fine. If I was going to haul sheetrock or lumber all day I would then buy a one ton dually. But I just drive to work and play with it. I guess I feel that this is a wasted thread, just get over it. If you want to haul something get a bigger truck if you want to haul people then get a car and if you want to romance your lady then get a van, there now that is settled. Sorry but just don't go bashing everyone elses rides as they are all proud of them.

Ive got a "short bed" too, and for a good two years i was hauling nothing but dirt, trees, home depot crap, and much more than i care to remember and my 6 footer was perfect. Yes, though if i was in a field like construction id need a 8 footer, but I look that as a specialty truck for specialty work. That and i have no problem putting stuff over the talegate, or putting the talegate down. Makes me feel good sometimes, cuz im acutally using the bed and haulin ***. Gotta love that. But same with everyone else, i have a better turning radius than alot of my buddies trucks, and of my dads 05 2500. I get to kick the crap out of them for that. Also, cant go as fast with that much more weight on ur ***.
