Check the off-road forums and call your local salvage yards. Also, call that 4x4 place that is across the street and get a quote from them, see if they can help you out. If it sounds good, tell your current guy that you plan to just tow it somewhere else instead of do business with him. His tone might change then.

I think I recall several of us saying early on in this thread that we thought you were not at a good shop for this type of stuff. This just proves it. All he knows how to do is buy brand new parts from a dealership and install them. You need a different shop as said before.

What?

I'm not really sure why your calling me a punk? I just got done translating what you guys said to me. I'm keeping the axle, I'm putting the parts back in, I'm bringing it to a different shop. I just need an open carrier....I don't see where the disconnect is??

I think you guys are forgetting that I originally brought it to this shop to have the LSD replaced on it. Then these ****ers opened that differential up to the point where the LSD fell apart on them, and they made it a crisis situation on me. If it had just been a simple swapping of the limited slip units, then this shop would have been fine with it. But they went and put me in a situation where it was a do or die type bull****, so I'm dealing with that. I don't really know why everyone thinks I'm not listenting to them. You guys suggessted that I try to reuse the housing, put the parts back into it, and buy an open carrier for the 9.25 axle. And I've taken you guys up on that, and I've asked the shop to find me an open carrier. OF course, nobody offers one. I can get one from Advanced Autoparts for $177, but it would take 4 WEEKS. I have no idea where I can find, all the salvage yards are being lazy and aren't helping me out, because it's a weird request. Slomojo, I don't know why your calling me a punk though? I listened to your suggesstion to try and work with this axle. Would you be able to send me the open carrier from that rear axle? I will pay you for the part and the shipping. I don't really know where else to go. And I cannot afford to have my truck paralzyed much longer. I don't have a vehicle, and I don't even have my work van anymore, so I'm pretty much stranded. Help would be extrmely appreciated, I can't have you guys bailing on me. I need an open carrier. And I'm buying a new bearings kit for the rear end, putting the old parts back into it, putting a thick oil into the case, and calling it a done deal, and chances are, I won't have any issues for a long time. Work with me guys, I'm working like hell to get out ofthis situation alive..

I just love these threads of 01dodge's they just get so........how do I say all warm a fuzzy feeling with all the love and such. Can't we all just gather around and sing songs around the bonfire. LOL

Hey stuff breaks and that is life. If you can not fix it yourself then you are stuck having a shop do the work. I feel for ya 01dodge as it does get costly but that is also the price of owning a truck or for that matter a car in general. My tranny went out and I did not post a thread that lasted for 29 pages(or however long it was). I thought this forum was for advice and helpful tips not to whine about anything that goes wrong the then not listen to the advice thatwas given here.

But hey just my $.02

Because this is the only vehicle I know to ever have such extreme issues at such low mileage. For a Ford, 100,000 is NOTHING. A rear end a transmission gone at 100,000 is a ****ing nightmare. Some of you enjoy tooling with me way too much. Put yourself in my position for once instead of jumping on the conventional bandwagon of having fun with my mysery, it's a joke. I'm not asking for much. I'm asking if somebody can help me find an open carrier for my rear end, period. If that's abnormal or funny to someone, then **** you very much.

Ugh...you're killing me 360...
If your truck drove in there it should drive back out...Go somewhere else.
You have the crappiest luck as far as shops go. I don't who is recommending them to you but you need to start researching the shops prior to taking anything in to anyone.
As you know, I also live in Maine and have nowhere near the same luck as you.
Have you tried calling Archies Offroad out of Wells at all? Start calling around for parts locally and stay away from the NE Transmission's and look for someone who specializes in what you need done...
You may look like a jackass sometimes going into a shop and asking advice but in the long run it is your cash at stake. Hell, when I snapped my #4 sparkplug off I asked advice here on the easiest way to get it out and then went to Napa, VIP, and 2 garages in Arundel and Kennebunk and bounced the ideas off of them and got some more pointers prior to pulling it out. By doing that you also can tell what kind of people they have working there and whether they just want you money or really know what they are doing...

anyways im not going to keep this off topic any longer. good luck getting it back on the road.
Indy I don't even know why you are apart of this thread. It's guys like you that make my threads so ****ing long. You just come in to bitch and be a homo, either help out, or stay out...that simple.
Id be willing to sell you mine for $50...but on second thought...**** off.
I'm on Indy's side. He said he was gonna stop posting in the thread unless it was on topic, and good luck with your truck. Then you gotta toss in one extra uneeded comment. And ended up ****ing yourself outta the part you need.

Then why didn't you buy a ford? Everyone in your family has fords, and you nut yourself everytime you talk about your brothers truck.

Try N.E. Offroad one of my customers had his Jeep and FJ done there and is extremely happywith there work. Also as far as being so down on the garage put yourself in their shoes. Why would they piece together your truck so when it breaks they'll have to hear about it and possibly be badmouthed locally. My.02
