A couple of those spider gears had fallen out, do those pop back into place?

Ah successmy friends. I had my buddy come back over and we got everything back in. Now I'm just letting the gasket sealer set and then putting the oil in.

Wow, 17 days later, my truck is finally back on the road

Got the mobil 1 synthetic gear oil in there, and then I took a deep breath and put it into Drive. Truck rolled out of the garage beautifully. I let the truck warm up for about 5 minutes, and then I took it for a cute stroll around the block to get the engine moving and the rear diff. fluid mixed in. It is a seamless transition, there doesn't appear to be any weird sounds on corners and truck doesn't hallow. I'm so happy to have my truck back. Everything should be good to go for awhile now. Got all the synthetic oils in the differentials, transfer case, and engine, so she should be happy. Now I'm just going to let the RTV settle for the night, and she should be ready to rock n' roll by tomorrow morning, I finally have a vehicle back! This has been the most excited I've been since February. Even after I got the transmission put in, I never enjoyed it because I knew the rear end still had to be addressed. This is the first time in a long time where some important things on the truck have finally been addressed. I'm just happy to know there is an open carrier in there and that I don't have to worry about anything breaking up inside. I can finally sleep at night. Thanks everyone for all of your help.

Glad to hear it.

Make sure and check the differential fluid levels after your little drive there, I guess some of it can work its way into the axle or something and that might make it a little low. Top it off if need be. Not a big deal, but its something I learned reading about this from the experts on here.

Good to hear. Will you be using this guy for future work? What do you plan to do next to the truck?

Yeah, I think I kind of came up with a good idea with this mechanic. He likes coming to the house because he gets paid cash, and I like having him come because he does it cheaper than any shop. He showed he can do the gears. So I am going to ask him how much to have 4.56 gears put into both axles. I think that's what I want next. I want to get extra power, and I want to have gears that will match the 35" tires. This way it's less stress on the drivetrain and engine, and I'll have more power throughout the powerbands. I'll run it by him and see what he thinks. I took the truck out tonight and everything seems to be running perfectly. Engine is running great, there isn't any noise coming from the rear, so I am happy. He didn't use a dial too for the backlash. He used a marking pen to do the backlash, wasn't something I had seen before, but it obviously works for him. He's just a really nice guy for coming out and doing that. Then my good friend "steveo@hotmail" came over and finished the job up with me which was really nice of him too. Both really nice guys that got me out of this thing for $160 including gear oil. I couldnt be happier.

I've thought about the Fastman but how big of a difference does it actually make? Most of the stuff like the air hat and exhaust maybe make a difference but not a big one you can feel. The Hypertech was the only thing I've really felt and I'm not sure if it was that or the transmission. It just wants to go a lot easier once it gets up to 60 or so. I mean just seems like past that it has a lot more power but it might not it might just be since I went so long without my truck.

I want something I can actually feel the power from if I go with teh Fastman or else I'd rather just do HID's or something like that as my next mod.
