Default cutting the muffler off

Hey guys i have a 99 ram 1500 with a 5.2 and i was thinkingabout doing somthing to the exhaust but i dont really want it that loud and i dont want the check engine light to come on. so i was thinking about just cutting the muffler off and then bolting on a straight pipe on where the muffler was. so will that screw with the o2 sensors and make the light come on. i know the sensor is before and after the cat but i just want to know. thanks

Nope it won't screw anything up. I'd suggest using a sawzall though. I used a hacksaw and it went through about 3 blades.

Magnaflow makes a 70 series muffler that you will barely notice is there until you jump on it.

I think Aero makes a muffler with a built in resonator model 3030XL I think. A few 3rd gen guys like the aero sound. I've not heard one on a 2nd gen.

You sure that 70 series isn't a Flowmaster not a Magnaflow? The only 70 series I've ever heard of is made by Flowmaster. Or does Magnaflow make one I'm not aware of? I'm really not familiar with what Magnaflow offers.

He is confused ... magnaflow the longer the muffler is wont be as loud , flowmaster goes by series and length to... look at the 10 series , 40 series , 50 - 70 series not only thechamber but the length , then you can go from mild to wild ..
