Now after reading this thread... I ask myself why? lol. I think it was page 3 (somewhere round post 68 or so) where 01 said something about how the truck shines in teh driveway. I have to disagree 110%. Sure if you own a show truck (shoot... ramzilla) then... then that may be true. But to imply that how the truck shines is more important than what the truck was built to achieve, thats where im gonna call your bluff. My truck sure isn't rust free (door lips), and sure as h3ll isnt scratch free. I use my pickup as a pickup which I would bet at least the majority do the same way. I considered having the truck buffed, but.... why?its only gonna get scratched up again. I keep my truck presentable when I can (if this mother f***** pollen would quit fallin) I went out today and cleaned it up again. But even after a wash, claybar, wax, detail stuff....she shines, but no where near a show truck. Let me sum this up. It isn't how your vehicle looks on the outside, if the heart of the truck (engine, trans etc.) can't do anything. My father taught me that with his old montego. Sure she may not look that great on the outside, but with the rebuilt engine and trans... she will take you where ever you wanna go. Moral of the story... looks arn't everything. sheesh... guess you can say that about a lot of things come to think of it.

I think some guys really take what I said to the extreme. It's not really that big of a deal. I work my truck a lot as well, but it just bugs the hell out of me when it gets that sweet layer of dirt on it, or whatever I'm working with on it. So, after I'm done working with the truck, I take the time to get the hose out with the powernozzle, and I wash her down. Then I get a bucket, soap, and a mit, and I go through that mother****er until she's shining like new. Then I get a ton of microfiber towels and dry her all up. It's not really a matter of how you use your truck, I use a truck for what a truck is made for, but that doesn't mean you can't make it shine like a car. I get guys over town always coming up to me and my brother randomly asking what we do to our trucks to keep them so clean all the time, and I simply tell them I handwash my truck about once a week, and I just keep on. They always ask me if I wax it, when really I only get it waxed twice a year. A simple bit of time once a week at night is all it takes to make your vehicle stick out. Keeps the paint protected and shining. I'll do any kind of work with my truck, just as long as I can vacuum the interior, and hose her down then handwash it afterwards, and that's all it takes.[8D]

If this post taught me something it is this. Different folks, different strokes.

I am a "My truck is a toy & hobby" guy But I do want it to do what a truck does.I am not going to spent thousands of dollars to upgrade. But I want a good looking, dependable 4x4 that I can tow, mud, or just cruise. ( I love that must ricers are now just a speed bump.) I got a ricer to take me to work. But the truck will take me on a date.

Some are "My Truck is my statement" Major money, Major time, Lets go to the show. Be it MUD, TRACK, or STYLE.

But it seems everyone here has a passion for their truck.

May I hear an AMEN

Jeff
Lets get this over

I agree with a few others here I think it looks a lot better with that tail gate trim piece on there also. I don't know maybe I'm weird I just think it looks odd without it especially with a normal non sport bumper and tail lights.

As for the show truck my truck doesn't look bad but it's far from perfect. It has a dent in the door where a buddy slammed it open and it either hit the fender or the hinge pulled a dent in it. I need to get it fixxed but honestly I haven't yet because you can only really see it at an angle and most people I've told about it have said they didn't see it until I pointed it out and some had to look then. It just doesn't seem that bad. I got a quote on fixxing it for $140 I just haven't done anything with it. I also have rock chips behind the front and rear tires from where the tires stick out the sides and throw gravel from dirt roads up at the truck. Fender flares stop this but I don't like how they look at all. Then I have a small ding as in tiny in my hood and a ding in my door that I don't know what happened. It looks like someone hit it with a golf ball or something. Then one small spot I just noticed not too long ago in the side of the truck on the bed in the middle. Its like a ding that you can only really see if you are at the right angle and the sun hits it the right way. You can't see it very easily even knowing where it is. Sometimes it takes a bit to find. Then I just have some scratches on my truck that dark colored trucks show. Overally once you get up close as in a foot away or maybe less you can find those impefections but as long as you don't looks super duper close it looks great. I'm super picky like you so thats the only reason I'm able to find half the dings I did. Everyone else seems to think I'm crazy.

As for it being fast I disagree with you there. These trucks are not fast at all. I think you should take your truck to a track and see how it does. That would be cool to see some times.

I have some mods to my truck. Similar to yours although I have smaller tires as mine are 33"s, I have a Hypertech programmer, and a few other small things. I however don't have the gutted cat and headers. Anyway my truck has plenty of power and doesn't do bad for a truck but it's not fast. It will spin the tires but it's not like I'm driving a 12 second car. I mean it wouldn't run anywhere close with a stock LS1 Camaro even. There are other trucks out there that are a lot faster. I don't doubt the Tundra is. My buddy has a 04 Chevy 2500 single cab long bed 4wd with a 6.0L in it. All stock except for a tool box in the bed and stuff that adds weight. It will just eat my truck for lunch. My truck feels like a mopared after driving his truck. According to Hypertechs dyno charts my truck with the Hypertech on premium setting puts out 100hp less than his does stock and I'm not sure I get as much out of the Hypertech as they claim. I don't really know as I've never dynoed it. It's sad it only has .1L bigger engine and about 120hp more. Thats just embarrasing. While having that much more power it also gets a fair amount better gas milage. I have heard the Fords are pretty dissapointing power wise but the Chevy's seem to be a lot faster trucks easily. My uncles 02 Suburban with a 5.3L seemed to be about like my truck maybe slightly faster and it has quite a bit smaller engine. These trucks aren't bad but they are no where near being fast even with mods done to them.

I mean our 06 Accord V6 6speed while it does way 3k and some pounds is way way way faster. As in it will spin the tires at 40mph if you have it in 2nd and just nail the gas. Don't even need to touch the clutch. It's pretty quick for a Honda family sedan and it just embarrases the truck. Well, actually quite a bit out there on the road but still. If I want something quick I wouldn't even call it fast but quick I get in it. The Chevy Caprice is probably a little faster than my truck and I'd say the old Honda is slower off the line and down low but up top it probably runs a little faster. My truck used to seem like it would hit a brick at 60mph where as the other will keep pulling on past there. However after the new transmission, Auburn LSD, and Hypertech it seem to have really changed that and it will still go after that. I'm assuming it was the Hypertech but I guess could have been the transmission. Hard to tell or maybe I just forgot what it felt like since it hadn't run right for a while before that.

If I want fast I just bring out the R1. Thats what I'd classify as fast. It probably will be at 120 before our trucks could hit 60. According to the times I've read online from magazines it runs 9's in the quater but I've never tried it.

I love my truck don't get me wrong it's just not fast at all. Don't even get me started on how much faster diesel trucks are and can be.

I seriously thought about getting a new one when the 8k or so got dumped into it recently but I decided after a lot of thought that I could fix mine to be like I wanted it a lot cheaper than a new one would be then I still would have to do a couple grand in mods before I got it close to how I wanted where as mine is close now. Not 100% how I want it yet but close. Well, actually I'd be happy with it if I stopped now but I kind of want a new TB and maybe a few other things. I realized I like my truck more than I do any of the new ones too so I wasn't dropping 40grand on a truck when I liked mine better. If I got another truck it would have been a 2500 or 3500. Well probably F-250 or 350. I don't want another half ton especially when they don't have the SFA which the new ones don't.

Oh as for the frame weighing less on your 1500. Aren't the frames the same between the two? Or is the 2500 a few inchs taller? I've heard both but usually hear that they are the same. Anyway I doubt it's that much of a difference.

I do however agree you have a really nice looking truck 01DodgeRam360. Infact it would be one of my favorites if it had a proper front suspension. I'm also not a fan of fender flares but your truck pulls them off okay. It's a super nice looking truck so I'm not trying to down it. If I didn't like it I wouldn't have nominated it for TOTM. I really do like it but I do agree I don't think it's as fast as a lot of other things out there on the road.

Well I'd say, that was a good read, and, while I didn't read the last post in its entirety, that hometheaterguy has some serious **** on the ball. I say he should be nominated for atleast totm, if not this year's DF valedictorian.

Haha Will, I can always count on you for in depth analysis. But I will say my truck is not "fast". I don't think it is fast at all. I guess I should say it's extremely powerful. A lot of guys who get into my truck are just really suprised when I step on the gas and it will screetch the tires and put you back into the seat. I've raced my buddies 6.0L chevy 2500, and my truck stomped him by a truck length to 60. I've raced my brothers F-350 which is incredibly powerful and I can barely beat him up to 60mph. However, most of the time, I drive this truck very slowly and very calmy. Daily driving this truck is always very slow, because it's a big truck and isn't meant to be zipping around all day. But when I want to race somebody at a light, I'm never disappointed, the truck has this incredible snap from a dig that is very impressive. Maybe the guy who owned this truck before me did something to the engine because I feel like I'm the only one shocked about its power from the line. I will do some videos a couple weeks from now when I can ensure the truck is running healthy, but I'll only do one video. I don't like romping on it unless it's worth it like a race. But in wrap up, I understand my truck is not fast, I know it is not. A fast truck would mean it's fast at any speed, and has high speed capabilities, which this truck does not lol. But at a light, I feel confident with my chances to line them up with most trucks. The other day I beat a Mazda 3 0-80mph by a car length with a bed full of lawnmowers and wood, I thought that was very impressive. Most of the time that I am driving I take it very easy though and just appreciate the truck and for it's looks. But every now and then when I'm feeling like opening up the beast and hearing her roar, I will give it to somebody lol. In regards to the front end, it is something I will pick away at bit by bit. It suprisingly doesn't drive bad. I have good allignment, can lock the wheels full left and right, and all the bearings appear to be good. At some point though I have to decide if I want to piece the front together, or just buy a whole fabtech kit, which just costs alot of money. Don't really want to think about the lift right now though, I just finished getting her back lol. But the truck does ride excellent, I don't know how it does, but if I hadn't ever asked about the spacers, I wouldn't have known the differance. And thanks again hometheaterman for nominating me for TOTM, really appreciate it dude.

Yeah I know how you feel about getting it back. When my truck was down for a while I couldn't wait to have it back. Although I did have mine to where I could drive it for most of that time. It sat at the shop for 1-2 weeks or so give or take but the rest of the time I could drive it it just didn't drive right so I didn't want to go far.

It's hard to tell if your truck has something done to it you don't know about making it a ton faster or if it's like ours and just what imrpesses you doesn't impress me or others. I mean yeah it will take off fairly hard from a light but idk it doesn't take off anything like our Accord thats a 4 door car. Ofcourse I guess you can't expect that as it's got more horsepower and weighs less.

I don't know about the Chevy with the 6.0L I just know the guy I hunt with that has one seems a ton faster than mine and I don't just mean a little. A guy on PS years ago put a nitrous kit on his and said he could be Chevy's with the 5.3L if he sprayed it which he seemed happy about. I'm pretty sure he said the 5.3L. I think it was a fairly small shot though like a 75hp or something. Anyway You do have a super nice truck and had I not been in things a lot faster I might think mine was quick but having been and actually having stuff thats soo much faster it just makes the truck seem slow.

I highly doubt the three was trying... sad to say he may have been romping on it, but might not have been racing you. that cars got a much better power to weight ratio than these trucks have.

#2 please pick a story and stick to it, and dont edit your posts out, it's annoying. if you write it own it. if you dont want to say it then dont write it. if you write it and regret it... then apologise if you must.

If you really want to ride in a fast truck.. find someone with a syclone or typhoon even a stock one would give your truck a heck of a beating.. better yet someone with a good tune on a lightning or 454ss just so you cant say anything bout it being a small truck...... trust me you'll change your tune about your truck being fast.

you must not use your truck as most of the people here apparently do as washing it once a week doesn't cut it for keeping it shiney clean. when you work in a truck it gets dirty. and yes I do clean mine every week, sometimes more if it's really muddy... but most of the time there are hints of driving down a dry dirt road or romping through a field if i cleaned it every time it was dirty as you hint to doing.... well heck i'd never get any work done.

not trying to harp on you, but it is getting annoying... faster than my kid brother your same age... scarry thought right there. I vote 01 for tag-along brother award...

I've said it before and I'll say it again: "Trucks are for hauling cargo, not for hauling ***".

How many times do I have to repeat myself? I said the truck isn't a fast truck. I said it's very powerful and has a lot of torque, it's really not that complicated. I've shotten the videos, 8 seconds 0-60. That's not quick? A truck with 35" tires getting 0-60 in 8 seconds is remarkably powerful. I never say the truck is fast, that is you guys twisting my words. I've already said the truck is slow other than in a straight line. I already know a 454 would win, they are meant for racing. I'm talking about racing regular trucks, not specially tuned trucks, and not little bitty racing trucks. I beat a Mazda 3, and no he was flooring it. He was the one who iniitiated the race with his queer revving. So I punched it when it turned green, and we both screeched the tires, and we went to 80 mph. Then he let off. When we got to the next light and looked over and said what the hell is it in that thing? I don't know why people get offended, if anytihng it should be an exciting thing that a ram has potential of being powerful. And far as it being clean, there is nothing wrong with a truck being clean. Just because I keep it clean doesn't mean I don't use it for what it's for. I use my truck constantly for the job site, CONSTANTY. But when I'm done, I make sure to get on it before it sits too long, otherwise that's when the rust can take place. Hell that is why I bought all this **** for the house, I couldn't afford paying for carwashes anymore. Now I can do it at my own time. Trucks are for whatever you want them to be. I primarily use mine for work and pleasure. I also like to have some fun now and then and do some mudding and some racing. My truck is my pleasure, why wouldn't I want to maximize it's potential.
