i guess..... im not super impressed with the performance from my blue ram, yeah its got good power, and tows just about anything i put behind itbut its decient at best. hence why i bought the v10. and then the tundra. the 5.9 litre just doesnt make that much power if you really look at it. i live in a VERY hilly area so i understand the need for high tq to climb the hills around here. if im towing my tractor or skid steer around i usually tow it with the v10 because i hate having to gain speed before the hill to try and keep momentum when climbing a steep hill with my 5.9 litre. the v10 is a constant power it just keeps pulling never breaks speed, while my 5.9 will slow down to 30-35 mph while climbing hills.

well basically it comes down to this. it takes tq to get you rmoving off the line.and the 5.9 makes decient tq, not great but decient.and it takes HP to keep you going. the 5.9 makes ****ty hp truthfully. so while it will have decient low en power and tq, it struggles to keep speeds on hills or inclines and while passing and stuff as the hp just isnt there. couple that with big mud tires and it blows on hills, lol

im not skewed with my perception of trucks, i have owned a LOTof trucks, that range from chevys to fords, to dodges to toyotas. and what im telling you is my dodge 5.9 litre is not the end all be all truck, its a good truck yes but nothing special. i currently own a 1988 chevy dump truck with a 350 and a 4 speed, a ford dump truck with a 7.3 litre diesel. the 8.0 litre ram, my 5.9 litre ram, and my new tundra. the dumps get parked for the most part in the summer unless im hauling stone or big loads of mulch or whatever. i use them primarly for plow trucks.

also my good friend (landscaper as well)has a 2002ish chevy 2500 with the 6.0 litre. which i tows smoother then my 5.9 litre. as well as a 2004 cummins ram. all of these vehicles i have listed tow better then my 5.9 litre does.

Like i said i understand you love you're truck, but you're young yet and this is really all you know as of right now.but seriously all this talk about your truck being the best truck on the planet is getting old, lol

also it seems as if YOU have a skewed perception of what a truck SHOULD be like. all you talk about and brag about is how fast yours is, how it beats all the other trucks on the road blah blah blah, who cares its peppy in a straght line....

trucks were built to tow, plow, haul loads,WORK, not street race. all of which your 1500 ram prolly do bad. so please stop with the storys of you spanking other trucks its annoying and lame to say the least.

Well no, it has 4.10 gearing because it's the offroad edition. And mph, I wouldn't know KHM lol. You forgot to mention the longtube headers and offroad y-pipe and flowmaster exhaust system. The transmission has helped a ton as well, it's tuned to race. I don't like to race anymore seeing I destroyed my transmission in the first place, but all I know is this truck is nuts. I just think if you want performance, that's cool, but looks should come first too. Nobody cares about a vehicle being fast if it's rusted, or doesn't look cool, just my opnion. I'm not even talking rims and ****. Just making it look a little extra custom, and always clean goes along way. You would be suprised. Some limo tint, smoked tails, fender flares, big tires, clear headlights and a loud exhaust will get everyones attention. Then they will be interested to ask what it has under the hoods. And hopefully over the years I can continue to build the list of performance modifications done to the truck[8D]
Tint, fender flares, big tires, clear lights, and a loud exhaust. Gee, that sounds very custom

I dont know, but whether or not the dodge is a better truck or not, your in a dodge 2nd gen ram forum, and its not really the place to be saying... "oh, well, this truck is not that good, and I would rather be running these trucks" whether the other truck really is better...I dont really want to be hearing it, Im hear to learn what I can do to my ram to make it better, not to listen to people about how their other trucks are better, if I want that I will go look at the posts on youtube videos. So please, could we keep this all friendly, and about 1994-2001/2 dodge rams? and anyways to be honest with you all, the one thing the 1/2 ton dodge is really truly able to be built to be the best at, is wheelin. It can be fast, but not really the fastest, and it can tow alot, but not the most, and especially not uphill. so now that that is all cleared up, lets go back to enjoying our DODGES!
