overheating
I have a 1995 dodge 4x4 1500 shortbed with a 5.2L I use this truck to plow snow and am having a problem with the plow blocking the air intake to radiator when I am driving down the road. It will cool right down when I stop. I am looking for a cheap fix and maybe some good ideas. I was thinking new fan or somthing but just don't know . Please help me. My tuck is an auto.

RE: overheating
Throw an electric fan on the outside of the radiator to keep a stedy airflow through there, just make sure you wire it to an accessory controled wire so it shuts off when you shut the truck off...if you dont want that, do what I did, put a toggle to control it on the dash so you can turn it on when the temp gets up there. Is your truck a stick or auto?

RE: overheating
First off i would check your existing fan. im not sure about your '95 , but my '98 has a clutch fan on it. if its worn, you will run much hotter than normal. i drive my cousins 97 1500 plow truck and it never runs hot, and its not modded at all as far as cooling. when the truck is off, if its a clutch fan, spin it with your hands, it really shouldnt reach a full turn after you let go. if it reaches multiple rotations, change it, and make sure you are not driving with your plow all the way up, this blocks your air intake to the radiator

RE: overheating
the electric fan is a great buy. i would think that even with the plow up overheating still shouldnt happen(lived in alaska for over 20 years and never had a problem with over heating) i would drain and flush your coolant and check the themostat for propper operation or just change the 10 dolar or less part. my .o2
