4.10 or 4.56
maybe i should of serched first but i would like to hearfrom some of you that have on or the other.
i got 315/70/16; 34.6', i just put on with stock gaers i beleive 3.55.i am deffinetly upgadeing but am swaying more to 4.10 cuz i dont want to be to high. i do a lot of highway driving, but i got the tires for my constuction sites. since i put them on im geting around 9-10 mpg from 13-14mpg with 285/75 i had, so now im in the peddle all the time and hill suck.if i did more 4wheelin i would lean more 4.56 but ive never got to drive a dodge with either combo so i really would like some feedback.are the 4.10 not enough or what, there is no reason way there cant be a combo that acts like stock (3.55w/265/16).i had a 88 chevy 4spd stick with 4.10+33'trs and with out an extra gear (od) it was not a highway driver 2500rpm at 60mph i dont want that.
'01dodgeram' has 4.10s and is changeing to 4.56 what is the reason? i thought you were geting 13mpg thats good.
silverdodge has 4.56 what is your pros and cons and mpgs?

RE: 4.10 or 4.56
I've only driven just under 200 miles since the swap from 4.10 to 4.56, but my first fill-up on the 4.56/35" combo yeilded slightly better gas mileage then when I had 4.10/35". It was only about 1 mpg better, and that was only for one tank, so I'm not calling it anything definitive yet. I do not recommend 4.10's with 35" tires unless you live somewhere that is absolutly flat on your highway drives. Even the slightest hill causes you to have to down shift, which can be hard on the transmission when it is doing it so often. With the 4.56's this is virtually eliminated, and it now shifts like it did from the factory. I have also noticed that my transmission is definetly running cooler then it was with the 4.10/35" combo (about 10-15 degrees on average). That is reason enough to me to get the gears.

RE: 4.10 or 4.56
the only reason i ask this is bcuz i had a chevy 4spd with 33' and 4.10 and on the highway i was i the trottle alot to keeep it at 65 and when i let off it would drasticlly slow down.so the 4.56 a sounding good but just wondering what are you getting for mpgs silver, its not 200 miles on a tank is it, my tank is 24-26 gal and thats almost what im getting now around 230-250 mi a tank so thats 9-10 mpgs
