Old I know...but still.
Yeah I know this **** is getting old for you guys, but I still need your input. I had the transmission installed at 106,000. The truck now has 108,000 miles on it. I've had a chance to drive this truck on the highway, backroads, city, and up big hills, so I can fairly assess it now. Anyways, I made an appointment Thursday with the transmission shop. I told them I wanted them to do a checkup on the transmission, and that I wanted them to take a look out a couple of things.
As of yet, this is what I've come up with on this transmission. OVERDRIVE. This is the only gear on the truck that is causing me the most problems. I can live with first, second, and third. They all are fine. This transmission also bites in very nicely at full throttle and does this job. However, the overdrive gear in casual driving is very bothersome. There is a very harsh skip going into overdrive. If you have any kind of throttle going into overdrive, it will do a nasty skip into overdrive. Also, the gear is very weak. The truck is very powerful in 1, 2, and 3rd gear, but once it shifts into overdrive, the engine immediatly starts to make this chugging noise, as if it's struggling to get power. It is only in this gear that it chugs, and it's very annoying. The last thing, are the bumps. When I am in the overdrive gear, every bump I hit, my foot will hit the gas pedal and make it do little revs. It's the only gear this will do it in. There is such a lack of power in overdrive that my foot has to be so hard on the pedal to make it sustain speed, so everytime I hit any kind of bump, I'll accidentily make it do little revs, and it is very annoying. I've also started to hear the the transmission skip randomly on me in overdrive. I'll go to apply some more gas and it will do a quick skip. It is the only gear on this truck that pisses me off. All of the other gears are very powerful, but as soon as it gets into overdrive, the engine starts to chug, and the bumps makes you hit the gas pedal. So I plan to have them focus all on overdrive. All I know is my ****ty stock transmission had much more power in overdrive. I didn't even know what overdrive was, and it was because it was that unoticable. The only reason I know what overdrive is, is because I noticed the lack of power and throttle response it had in 4th gear. Does this sound like something worthy to bring to the shop? I don't know if I'm just being ****, but I can't take it anymore. It's also why I'm lowering this truck down. I can't risky blowing another transmission, and if I want to keep this truck, I have to take a hit and lower it back down and put the 305s on, I'm afraid this truck is going to eat my truck alive. I took one big trip with this truck, and it already started showing the signs of wear that the old transmission had with the random skips in overdrive etc.

Hopefully you have a warranty that covers over 2000 miles.
TAKE IT BACK! Make sure you know how to reproduce the results. Then take the mech for a drive and reproduce the problem then tell him how to make it do it and let him drive it. Insist on this. If you dumped $4K into it, it better be perfect.
I'm not gonna pep talk you for 20 pages, this is all you'll get from me.

Well fortunately it is a 3 year/70,000 mile warranty. Should I try to have them fix this, or replace it? I don't want to go in there being a raging *******, but I'm also not planning to go in there being nice either. Does this sound like the right way to deal with it?
Yeah, that's what I was kind of trying to find out, if something existed that pertained specifically to overdrive. I just wanted to make sure it's something fixable. The overdrive defiantly doesn't seem right on this truck. You got the skip going into it, the real lack of power, the bumps, and the skips. It's the only gear that causes me troubles when casually driving. I also plan to give them a list. Sometimes I get nervous when I'm trying to explain ****, and I forget to mention everything. So I'll make a list and give it to him, and I'll just read off the bulletins. Hopefully they will just take care of it. The front desk guy treats me like **** though, it's pretty annoying. I called them this morning and I was like, "Hey, is this Mark?" And he says yes. Then I'm like it's Joe Miro. And then there was this 3 second pause, and he's like Hi Joe. He pisses me off lol. Whenever the transmission acts up, I just think of his face and I get really irritated[8D]

"We just need to put in a resistor..."
Make sure you don't buy that line again.
As far as the truck being a dog in OD, thats normal. But the skip or whatever going into it is not.
Like others said though, make them make it perfect. Be respectful, hopefully they won't try to screw you over (again). Good luck!

LOL the resistor, that's perfect. I guess I understand it being a dog in OD, but compared to my stock transmission, there was a huge differance, and that's why I complain about it. But I wouldn't even care so much about the lack in power if it didn't do the dreadful skip into overdrive, and the gas pumping on bumps. Hopefully they will fix it. Then when I get the 3" lift on with the 33/12.5/17 all-terrain tires, the truck will drive smooth down the highway and I can just stop thinking about this truck so much lol. I'm pretty excited about this lift thing. I think it will still look cool. It will essentially look the same, except smaller in scale. Right now its a 5" lift with 35" tires. And I'm making it a 3" lift with 33" tires, should still look nice, and I'll get the smooth straight ride, the good performance of an all-terrain tire, and all the suspension components will be happy, which makes me happy
Once you get the bug, you won't be able to stop thinking about the truck, even if you have no money. Trust me.
The only thing that might help you forget is that chick of yours, but only for a little while.
