Default Transmisson problem after oil change

Hey guys, let me first say Im not a newbie to working on vehicle, I have a 94 Jeep Wrangler built from the ground up, anyways I just bought a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9l 156,000 miles, a day after driving it I got a engine check light, had it checked and it was P1757. Later that day the light went off, It didnt shift to rough really but I wasnt getting on it either. So I did the research on this, and today I replaced the Transmission Governor Pressure solenoid and the Governor Sensor and the Oil filter, and adjusted the bands, the transmission is the 46RE. I followed the FSM from this forum on changing the parts and oil and filter. I filled up the transmission with 1 and 1/2 quarts of oil as the manual says and followed the steps of letting it run in neutral, and checked the oil and added the other half of the bottle, for a total of 2 quarts. When I went to put it in reverse I had to give it gas, at least up to 1500 rpms till it went into reverse. Didnt seem right, since everything was semi ok before I worked on it. So I put it in Drive and it did the same thing. But I went into reverse and back to drive and it idled forward and then lost power, like it let the gear go. Guys im not sure what to do here, This is my first auto tranny to really work on and need some help. Do i just need to drive it and get the fluid moving? also no error lights or anything. Thanks guys

Well I was doing what the manual said to do for only draining the fluild and a new filter. As I did not drain the torque converter. But so yall think my problem is just I need more fluid? Does this sound like something from not having enough fluid? Thanks again for any help guys

i doubt you hurt anything, unless you drove around for a while, i have a feeling you read the amount for a different tranny, possibly the manual transmission, I could be wrong though.

Either way definately check the fluid level.

Yea I don't think I would have hurt anything. Like I said I just was trying forward and reverse in the driveway maybe 3 times and it was late so I didn't go for a drive. But yea I just did the oil, filter, solenoid, sensor and adjusted bands according to the manual (first time I have ever done bands but I followed the book). But yea just 2 quarts in it right now. So I guess I need more, its just I was checking the dipstick and was getting a reading above min but maybe that was from the fill tube giving a false reading.
