has anyone replaced their front door speakers?i went to crutchfield to get new speakers to replace the paper factory 6x9`s,they told me i had to put 5 1/4 " rounds in because all the after market 6x9`s were to deep to fit, they told me i would lose alot of bass, and they were right.any body switch theirs out with any problems?

RE: front door speakers
I went with crutchfield and got the round speakers for the doors less than a year agowhen one of the factory door speakers went bad. They came with an adapter to mount the round speaker in the oval hole. I'm not an audiophile, but they sound a lot better than what was in there before. When I first put them in, I would adjust the speakers to go from the front (doors) to the rear speakers, and what a difference in sound clarity. I'm waiting for an excuse tochange out the rear speakers now.

your stock front speakers are 6x9. you can replace with about any size.
if you have the infinity system, there are amps on the front stock speakers, and you have to do a little special wiring to replace them with regular speakers.
your rear's are 5 1/4. you can replace with same or 6 1/2 round.
watch your magnet depth, as it can hit the window frame. you can shim out a little to help it.
watch you tweeter protrusion, too much will cause the door panels to bulge out.
that's why crutchfield calls for the smaller speakers. if you plan/measure carefully, you can use a lot of the aftermarket 6x9. just look carefully at the dimensions. careful - most pioneers won't fit (too much tweeter)

i replaced mine with rockford 6x9 4-ways with a small 2 channel amp. disconnected rears. sounds great.

vaughan is rite bout the pioneers i put some pioneer 5 voice 6x9"s in my 99, these ones happen to have the bigger magnets and stuff so at first they didnt fit, all i did was angle them a little, they sit up against the window frame but not the window, u wont beable to tighten 1 or 2 screws all the way down but they will have tension on them, it clears the window by a mere fraction, it pushes up against the panel just a little but if u have a cover for the speaker u'll be fine, ive had these speakers like this for goin on 2 1/2 years now and have no problem once so ever, and i have a lot of vibration due to 4 15's in the back seat and still not a problem, this is just a DIY worse case senerio if ur speakers dont fit.

whatever u do, do run it to a amp like ever 1 is suggestion, u will get the best sound ever, my pioneer 6x9's in front and infinity 5 1/4 run off a 800 watt 4 channel boss amp, and my 4 15's off a 8800 watt 2 channel amp, the only sound goin through my radio is my 4 tweeters, remember amps r ur friend and they make a beautiful sound
