Yup glad to hear you are making progress. I take it you still don't have a build sheet? Why do you not want one soo bad? Are you that afraid that it's going to tell you that you got something crappy?

It's not that I'm afraid, it isn't like I don't have a 3 year/70,000 mile warranty. I can't imagine them putting a piece of **** into my truck and slapping a giant warranty on it. It's their baby as far as I'm concerned. If they don't mind continuing eliminating the kinks, then I don't mind bringing it back until it's right. They just about made it perfect this time around. It's shifting like I have always wanted it to. It is shifting very smoothly in all gears now, and it doesn't loose power anymore or feel like it's getting sucked away, I'm very happy. The only kink left is highway speeds, when I got onto the highway, the pedal was feeling sticky to me, and when I hit bumps it cause the truck to rev up. It only does in overdrive now though. Before, it was doing it 35mph and above, now it has tons of power all the way up to 50mph before it goes into overdrive, I love it. Hopefully they can figure the last kink out and it will be dreamy to me.

You apparently don't know how a lot of companys work. Lots of companys slap long if not lifetime warrantys on stuff that is junk. Just like a lot of Advance Auto parts that have a lifetime warranty yet people are having to change out every 6 months versus they could have bought a good one with a shorter warranty but that doesn't break so often. I went through this with axles in the Honda. Warranty's don't mean much anymore. A local shop use to get transmissions from a place that seemed good until they went out of bussiness and the transmissions started coming back. He started having problems as the company was no longer in bussiness to offer a warranty anymore. Lots of places do stuff like that and slap warrantys on stuff that is junk.

I still think a build sheet would be nice as not only would you know what you have. Or atleast hope to know. They may lie to you. They sound super shady so I don't know how much I'd trust them anyway but not only would you have an idea of whats in it if you go to sell the truck and don't have a build sheet and just go oh it's got a heavy duty transmission do you think anyone is going to believe you? I know if someone told me that I'd be like yeah right unless they could show me what was in it to make it heavy duty. So basically if you go to sell it you minus well just sell it saying it's a stock transmission. I don't know how much it would matter anyway but atleast then they would know you really did have a heavy duty transmission not some crappy rebuild. Although I'm not sure that thats not what you have anway. No offense but it sure has taken a long time to get it halfway right.

A build sheet would not only be nice for you to have but would really be nice if you ever plan to sell this thing.

I dropped the truck with the transmission shop again this morning to fix the final kink (overdrive). I also asked Mark once again for the build sheet. I told him I may be selling the truck and would like to have proof that the transmission is built, so he said he'll get it for me. I'm excited though, this should be the final pitstop for me with these guys. The transmission is shifting very seamlessly, biting right in, and doing what it's supposed to. The only kink left is overdrive, the pedal appears to be sticky in overdrive still, so I'm having that fix that, and then everything should be perfect from then on. I'll let you guys know if they get it fixed when I get it back, and I'll also report the build sheet too. Wish me luck[8D]

Telling him you may be selling the truck was prolly the highlight of his day LOL

little something about warrenties. most of the companies warranties have very little to do with the quality of work, or parts put into the unit. more than likely, they buy the warranties from another company. think of it like an insurance policy. which is exactly what it is. an insurance policy for them, if that tranny goes bad they dont have to pay for all of it.

second lots of auto companies buy the longest one they can to make ti seem a better deal for the customer. this is a numbers game. I know that 7/8ths of the engines I sold warranties with would never come back to my shop. period. thats not saying I'm a good mechanic, that just means that I know that most likely the person is either A going to lollygag around till the warranty expires, or B prolly sell the car forgetting about the warranty when something goes wrong or C just not care enough to be bothered with it. of the ones that come back. 5 out of 10 of them are going to be pissant complaints.... IE i had silver heads, now thier black. or I have a vacume hose leaking. thats not something the warranty covers. 2 would have damage that was caused by something that would not be covered by the warranty, ie taking the car out and throwing a bottle of NOS into it. 2 of them may have a legit claim but the warranty has expiered, or they are not the purchaser of that warranty (very rarely are they transferable). most of the time I would cut those two a deal just to keep a good name. and 1 would actually be a legit fully qualified claim. (I dont know the actual numbers... but that's about what it boiled down to... to the best of my memory)

also.. lifetime warranty is for the life of the part. if you totally use a set of brakepads up you have used them for the life of the part, it doesn't matter if it's 1000 miles or 100000 miles. always read the fine detail, many of those warranties have a very destinct clause stating exactly what the lifetime of the part is considered.

so please dont dissillusion yourself thinking that just because you got a humungo warranty that your getting a great quality part.

glad to hear your feeling better about your truck

I hear what your saying in regards to comparing warranties to quality. In my case, you can only hope the warranty stacks up with the warranty. I know that the stock replacement he was trying to sell me had a 1 year/30,000 mile warranty. When we started talking about perhaps building something stronger than stock, he gave me a quote that was $1500 more that came with a 3 year/70,000 warranty. I wanted to go with an APS or Fastman, but it made me nervous spending the same amount of money for something that was going to be coming in the mail, with no warranty, and that I would need to have someone install it for me all pissed off. My dad would have been very pissed off he found out I ordered one through the mail, he would think that was one of the stupidest things in the world. He likes the fact the shop is 2 miles from my house, so I can keep on these guys. So I have a nice piece of mind knowing I have this shops help for at least the next 3 years, couldn't ask for more than that. I seldomly romp on this truck anymore. I just take good care of it. I'm hoping they can fix the last problem and then I can be on my way until the next service point. Other than that, I'm happy I'm almost there. Truck is running very well, it's looking great, and is getting 13.5 city and 18 highway, she's treating me well right now.

Honestly, the truck drives identical with the 285s and new shocks than it did with the ****ty lift and bad shocks lol. But no all kidding aside, the truck has a lot more handle. When I hit bumps it doesn't throw me around as bad as it used to, but then again I had the world's worst liftkit on that truck before.
