98 2500 lift question
I just picked up a 98 2500 regular cab a few days ago. It is rolling on 315/75 R 16s (roughly 35s) on the stock 16 x 6.5 wheels [sm=WTFsgign.gif]. In any case the tires are shot and I am getting ready to replace them. The problem is I don't want to put the tires that are twice as wide as the wheels, but I don't know what size to go with. The truck appears to have a lift. The blocks in the rear measure about 6 inches. I am not sure how much lift there is. I don't think there is 6 inches of lift on the truck because the shocks look stock (stretched out, but look stock), the upper and lower arms are stock, and there are no coil spacers. The truck sits level so I am thinking that someone put new coils up front, but how much lift do I really have? Did these trucks have blocks on the rear from the factory?

That is stock, and it doesnt look like the truck is level. The picture looks like its parked on an incline. I know pistures are decieving but my 1500 has blocks that look like those.
It sits very level, but the picture was taken by a lousy photographer.
So these trucks came from the factory with blocks? That is scary. I have seen bad thing happen with block, but I guess dodgegot them right. I am amazed that you could fit a315 75 16 on these trucks stock. If I go back with the same size I will get new wheels because that tire is way too wide for that wheel.

I wouldn't be surprised if you could fit 315's on a stock 2500 with minor issues as long as it was the stock wheel. Aftermarket wheels may be worse.
BTW yes the Dodge's do come from the factory with blocks. Blocks don't seem to be that bad by themselves. Usually when I hear of problems it's when people stack blocks which is a huge no no.
