Default Lack of power

I've Owned my 96 Ram 1500 5.2L for a couple of years. before me my brother owned it. fuel system wise he only changed the plugs. A couple of weeks ago the truck started idling rough and sputtering on acceleration. then on the 4th of July the check engine light came on. i work at jiffy lube so i hooked it up to our computer and it said it was a misfire on ever cylinder (P0301-p0308) and also a random/multiple misfire detected (P0300). So i replaced the plugs and wires ran a fuel system cleaner through it several times, and reset the computer but unplugging the battery for a few. It does not sputter anymore and the codes are off. But it does not have power. It will bog down when i punch it and regain some power when rpm's rise. Same thing with every gear; no power when rpm's are low and little power when the rise. Any body have any suggestions?

Remove throttle body and all sensor attached to it. Hose it all down with brake cleaner. Wipe clean then dry. Do the same to the sensors will not hurt them. Check your distributor cap (on the inside[:-]). Check for even steady spark from the coil.

Make sure you routed the wires correctly. If you routed them incorrectly, or didn't firmly seat them on the distributor cap, the cylinders won't be firing correctly and it will cause severe lack of power and usually no CEL to tell you why.

You have to wire them exactly as the old ones were. If you cross the wrong ones, you'll mess it up.

My truck did the same thing a couple years ago, It was the plenum gasket! It causes a vacuum leak (which in turn causes a misfire situation)and depending on how long it's been bad, carbon builds up on the valves. After I replaced it I still had some cyl. misfiring . I used techron and after about a month the misfiring went away. You should atleast check it and have the CC checked too.

Yep. But you also have to route the wires correctly.

Just a question here, I heard that braiding, as opposed to just running them in a straight line, the wires from the distributer eliminates the possibility of the current arcing from wire to wire. IS that true?

Sorry didn't mean to thread jack but I've been wondering aboutthis!
