Acetone in gas... 2+mpg do it!
Acetone has been proven to help clean your engine, AND eat away at seals and almost any other plastic or rubber it comes in contact with. Some guys even report damaged injectors, and on some Honda models, it actually eats away at the gas tank.
This has been discussed before.

LOL.Wow can you be a little more direct?
I don't believe the theory that if this worked the manufactures would add it at the refinery though. The oil companies only care about the mighty dollar. They don't care about getting you better gas mileage.
Thats cool to hear about mythbusters dis-proving it though.I missed that episode.
I definitely agree with you about how to get better mpg.

Oh good LORD! Another "Big Oil" conspiracy theorist. Sorry, Charlie. The oil companies have worked with Detroit for years to make oils that perform better so that engine tolerances could be made more refined which would yield better performance. Have you noticed that oil change intervals used to be every 3,000 miles but are now more commonly set at a 7,500 mile minimum? How about the superiority of synthetics? Ever hear of "break in" oil? You haven't, because it doesn't exist anymore.
Geez, next thing you know you people will be talking about how the oil companies killed the inventor of the 100mpg carburetor.
If you'll excuse me, I have to check on my HHO converter on my truck.

You're absolutely right. The oil companies care nothing about making money.Thats why Exxon has made a record 2nd quarter earnings of 11.7 BILLION(yes that BILLION) and are crying about the cost of oil per barrel. When any company can profit 11.7 billion only being through their 2nd quarter and were still paying almost $4.00 a gallon,it should say enough about what they are after. Not helping us get better mpg...ONLY $$$$
Im not a conspiracy theory nut,but what I am is in tune with the reality of the world as you obviously are not.
And if you havent been informed yet,we have the technology to run engines on things other than gas,as many companies are now doing on their fleet vehicles. They are just not being mass produced and only now some are being made available to the public...why?? Because the oil tycoons are making too much money on gas powered cars.
Good luck with the HHO converter.
you know what does work on a very consistent basis is using high quality fuels... Arco brand vs Chevron will loose to Chevron every time. Had my kids try it in their cars and they wont go back to Arco... it's cheeper getting it at chevron when they factor in the added cost vs mpg improvement (1~2.0 mpg)
oh, and when I yanked my 2000 QC 5.9 motor apart a few years back for a head swap there was very minimal carbon buildup on anything... pics to prove it. always ran either chevron or union 76 premium and mobil 1 15w50 oil.
I didn't put anything in that engine for the entire time I had it except Pennzoil Synthetic TCW3 and Chevron 89 Octane gas. I used Chevron only because I had a Chevron card that I used only for fishing tourney's to keep track of for tax purposes.
The mechanic and I attributed it to the Pennzoil Synthetic, since most people with Evinrude's tend to use Evenrude oil, but it's entirely possible it was the Chevron gas...
