To the original poster:

You realize that octane isn't how much power gas has, right? Octane is just how resistant the fuel is to detonation, nothing more. Putting in octane booster in the relatively low compression 5.9 won't do a thing. In a hemi, a higher octane fuel, or octane booster might do something because of their high compression, and with a lower octane fuel, the computer will adjust the spark so it does not detonate the fuel, at the expensive of a few HP.

Im always open to anything new and can never just think that I know it all.Life is learning my friend and time reveals all.

Would I experiment on my truck?NO. But I am thinking of trying this in an older van I have and see what results I get.

Just as others have stated their hearing of 2 cycle oil being a benefit.Should I just say they are nuts? Claim that it can't work? No.Just because it is not used as a standard in oil from the manufacturers, does not mean it cannot work.

The tcw3 2 stroke oil... I get it by the gallon @ walmart for about $8 bux ea. I'll give it a shot in the vw... I go thru a tank in 2 days so it'll be a quick test and should have an answer in no time. Probably would be next week. I'll do 2 oz per tank (tanks about 13~14 gal). again, it's hella hard to keep the foot out of it... I'll have to use cruise
Yea, I've got a few posts I've written in the 3rd gen section about RP. I switched to it last October in my Grand Cherokee Overland. Bought it in August used for a daily driver and got around to doing the lubes in late October and used RP in the engine, front & rear diffs. I saw a solid 2 mpg. increase in fuel economy, which is pretty accurate because of my routine with taking care of both my parents and all, I pretty much make the same errands to the same places, week by week. When the truck was due about 2 months ago, I put RP in the engine as well. Would love to do the rear diff, but I've got an Auburn LSD in there and they are pretty adamant about not using synthetics with it. Not used the truck enough to really tell yet. Used to use Mobil 1 myself, religiously every 3k. Gonna change the Jeep at 6k and take a good look at the oil.
I'd love to know what you find with the TCW3, if you read the link I posted, it sounds promising, and makes sense, but you never know...

the rear end in the '05 ram allows for using anything since there are no clutch packs back there (some sort of worm gear setup iirc). One thing that just came to mind was I swapped the diff fluids over to amsoil in early summer and over the 4th of July weekend got back to back high mpg runs out of my truck... previous best was 19.0 coming back from mt whitney, that trip going up with a bedroom set in the bed got 19.5, I used a different power setting on the power box I have... on the way back, same stretch of road and doing the speed limits the whole way, 20.58 mpg. This with the heavy *** 33's on there that are in the sig pic (mt whitney portal). If I had standard 33's on there I'd probably be getting the 19's all the time on the hiway (less rotational mass with a 33x12.5 vs the 33x13.5 I have on there)

I put it in my 05 qc 4.7, and i actually lost 1 mile per gallon.
NO BS
Tried several different amounts and had a negative effect.

You talkin' about Acetone or TCW3? (talk kinda switched over to TCW3 somewhere along the way)

Steve, I noticed the exact same thing earlier this month when I changed from Mobil1 to RP. I had about 5K on the M1, switched it out to RP and it idled noticeably smoother.

I was told by an Amsoil rep (who was really trying to push me hard on buying the Amsoil) that Mobil1 is called a fully synthetic, but that the gov regs on the term "fully" means it must be ONLY 50% or greater synthetic content. The other 50% could be regular dino oil. Amsoil claims 100% synthetic. I told the guy that I would try it after I ran the RP I had already purchased and give him my honest opinion on the 3.

I have the logs of mixed mileage for the Mobil 1 oil change from the start of the summer. I'm currently keeping the RP logs now, but I'll have to scratch this first fill as I needed to idle the truck for about an hour our so Monday while I was trying to fix the A/C problem.

Here's my mileage log for the Mobil 1 attached in an Excel file. I'm trying to keep everything as standard as possible, same station, same pump, same oil filter, same driving style when possible, etc.

I have tried Ethos and found a big increase in mpg, I will try acidtone and ethos at the same time since ethos will keep my truck lubed, not saying I need it. 01 318 ram.
