You're right about the tips, they can make it echo slightly differently depending on what size you are changing from and to(like a 2 inch tip to a 4 inch tip),but really wont effect the drone inside the vehicle as you said.
Regular, if we did double dutch in wrestling we'd be shot on site.

I just put on a flowmaster 40 series and Love it! Not to loud to drive you nuts on the highway, but enough to turn heads in town! Love this muffler!

I found it helpful to check youtube before I did my install

here's my exhaust system.. or lack there of... I dropped the stock system and have 3" from headers thru cat to flowmaster.. dumps out right behind the cab to tail pipe

I dropped about 60lbs total with this system

The long tubes do make a very noticeable in cab sound. but its more of a tingy sound than a drone.

wow...lots of arguing here...anyway I didn't go with any name brand muffler on my truck I bought this thing on ebay called the "Race Muffler" I'm very satisfied with it I have a stock Cat on my truck and this muffler is pretty freakin loud. Its only about 12" long with the inlet and outlet included in that measurement. So basically I cut my crap stock muffler off stuck the Race Muffler and a 28" extension pipe under there and I wake up the whole town now. I got the muffler the ext. pipe a 12" long 4" bore stainless tip clamps and hangers for $110 not bad in my book and no the drone really isn't bad at all.

C'mon man, I've been telling you gutted cats drone since before you gutted your cat in the first place. Maybe don't even get a highflow one if you want to keep it down. I'd still get the highflow though personally.
