Volant is in the house=)
Every newer stock HID light I've seen has been in a projector or projector-looking housing. Perhaps they may not always have been, but the newer ones are. Take a look at any of the newer Audis, BMWs, etc.
Want to provide some backup proof, rather than just "not true"?
Also ran into an interesting fact: in Europe, HIDs are more highly regulated than in the USA. Over there they actually require a self-leveling headlight system for their HID headlights, so that no matter what angle the car is (going up a hill, down, etc.), the headlights are pointed at the same spot in the road.

I'm looking at a few pictures of a 2007 Escalade right now, and they have projector HIDs.
The Prius doesn't, so I'll give you that, but they seem to be the only new cars that don't have them.

Go look at replacement hid headlights on any autoparts website.
I apologize if I wasn't clear, let me repeat my first reply to your "not true" post... the NEWER stock HID equipped cars have them.
I said they may not have always come with it, but look at any of the new HID equipped cars. Projectors, projectors, projectors. There is a reason they are going that route, and that was the point I was trying to make.

Changing your story eh?
I missed the part of your post where you said the "older" HID cars didn't have them, and upon rereading it, discovered what I missed. So that made me talking about which newer cars did and didn't have them irrelevant. I was going to rewrite the entire post, but decided to post a reply instead, so stopped short of deleting the entire thing.
There, I put it back in, happy?
Its beside the point. There is a reason they are using projectors for the HIDs now, a few leftovers not withstanding. That was the point, and your argument about the "older" cars not using them is moot.

I discovered an error, and was fixing it, and then decided to post a reply instead. I simply didn't retype what I had deleted already. Sorry if it was "bad etiquette".
Aren't we also supposed to use * or some other symbol instead of swearing, or at least try to? Don't quote etiquette to me and then violate a different part of it in the same post.
